007 First lithe delayed by two months for “further refinement,” announced developer and publisher IO Interactive.

The James Bond adventure video game was scheduled to be released on March 27, 2026, but will now be released on May 27, 2026. statement published onlineIOI said the delay would ensure it could deliver the “strongest possible version at launch.”

It’s worth noting that 007 First Light’s novel release date falls just a day after the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, before the latest delay of November 19, 2026. Essentially, IOI has taken over the launch slot left by giant Rockstar.

007 First Light was believed to have benefited from the delay of GTA 6, which was released just two months before GTA 6’s earlier release date. In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz last month, IOI CEO Hakan Abrak was asked if GTA 6 had kindly moved out of the way of 007.

“It would be a lie not to say that spring is looking really good,” he replied. “I want to say in one breath that GTA 6 is a welcome thing in the industry. I believe that many gamers who may not have played for a while will start playing it again and for the industry in general, I think it will be amazing.”

Apparently the GTA 6 delay gave IOI even more breathing room, and they used that extra time to give 007 First Light the best possible chance to get off to a mighty start.
