If there’s something that came out of nowhere and has been on everyone’s lips, it’s Infinity Nikki. From taking pride of place at the Tokyo Game Show to announcing a closed beta that attracted widespread attention, this dress-up game turned open-world adventure seems to have captured the imagination of people around the world.
And now, Infinity Nikki has reached another milestone as over 30 million users have pre-registered, with a global closed beta coming soon to iOS and Android. Player rewards that have already been unlocked include: 50,000 Blings, 300 Threads of Purity, 20 Resonite Crystals, and a 4-star outfit that will be gifted at launch.
A mix of dress-up and adventure. In Infinity Nikki, you move around the open world, playing as the titular Nikki. You must acquire fresh outfits that will allow her to gain special powers, allowing her to explore more and more of the enormous open world.
To infinity and beyond
The general consensus on the virtual water cooler among many Pocket Gamer staffers is that Infinity Nikki will be huge. And with 30 million pre-registrations for this basically glorified dress-up game, I don’t doubt it at all. Compared to the usually quite popular work of HoYoverse, which dominates the mobile and cross-platform open world RPG genre, Nikki places even greater importance on stunning graphics and effects. Time will tell how it fares when it actually hits store shelves.
