MachineGames has released a recent gameplay trailer for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, in which the archaeological adventure will debut on Xbox Series X|S and PC on December 3, and on PS5 in spring 2025.
MachineGames audio director Pete Ward walks us through this first-person action-adventure game. While there are some recent clips and things to see, it’s safe and sound to say that this film covers a lot of ground from previous trailers, including the character of Tony Todd as the mysterious and very impressive antagonist at the beginning of the game – who sadly passed away last week at the age of 69 years, making this game appear posthumously – and its companion character, photojournalist Gina, who joins forces with Indy in pursuit of Emmerich Voss, who embarks on a worldwide hunt for otherworldly artifacts.
Indy has his own camera with which he can take pictures of the world during his adventures, potentially gaining tips from Indy in the process. This will fill Indy’s journal, which will keep track of his adventures so far and all his clips. You may need to equip Agent 47 with certain disguises to get into restricted areas.
Last month I had the opportunity to practice with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and had quite a lot of fun. The first-person gameplay (with a few bits of third-person gameplay) may be different from what you might expect, considering Indiana Jones inspired games like Tomb Raider and Uncharted, but it works. I said, “I’m rather curious to see how this full adventure will unfold. MachineGames is taking a less obvious path, but it will lead to a much more individual and distinctive game and journey. And if you’re going to trust anyone to make a game that has a lot to do with beating up on fascists, it’s probably them!”
