The second Fortnite miniature from The Simpsons sets the stage for the game’s next update, which is due tomorrow, during which giant donuts will rain down on the game’s Springfield.
Released today, “Sugar High” follows Homer as he continues to “tweak” reality with the all-powerful Zero Point Shard. The miniature story begins with Homer being given a useful lecture from Professor Frink, the scientist of The Simpsons, until Homer turns the scientist into a novel version of Fortnite’s banana skin (soon to be available as a skin for Battle Pass owners).
Homer causes giant donuts to rain from the sky – something players will experience in the game this coming week – and the citizens of Springfield turn against Homer. The second half of the miniature seemingly sets itself up Next Fortnite’s theme of the week, in which Homer manages to clone and somehow create a form of a zombie army.
Fortnite plans to release two more Simpsons shorts that will be available online or via Disney+ throughout the second half of the Springfield mini-season, culminating in a major in-game live event on November 29. Fan reaction to the crossover has been positive, with developer Epic Games seeing a significant escalate in player numbers compared to the previous Battle Royale season.
Fans of Fortnite’s in-game lore also had reason to celebrate, as repeated teases signaled the imminent return of The Seven, a highly anticipated group of heroes who once pushed Fortnite’s storyline forward and were played by an all-star cast that included Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Brie Larsen, Joel McHale, and Rahul Kohli.
The last time the word Omniverse was mentioned was in the Fortnite storyline in Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War issue #5.
And the last person to say that was the Foundation. pic.twitter.com/hhfF9qJAnk

While the characters are not expected to return before the end of the current season of The Simpsons, the Fortnite fan and lore master Reztro pointed out that today’s miniature is a reference to “Omniverse” – in Fortnite lore, it’s basically the game’s term for a multiverse of multiverses. This is a term introduced in previous Fortnite comics starring The Seven, and most recently mentioned by Dwayne Johnson’s in-game character, the Foundation, in 2022.
Today’s trailer also saw further confirmation that The Simpsons character Moe will be available for purchase as an in-game skin, along with the original character with a donut for a head.
