IGN has once again partnered with ID@Xbox for an all-new showcase that dropped today, just a few days before Halloween. The show was full of jokes about the vivid future of indie gaming, opening with a detailed look at the creation of Mouse: PI For Hire, Robot and Monster Girl joining Invincible VS, Balatro content attacking Vampire Survivors, and more.
Many games were presented during the approximately 50-minute show. You can check out all the games below to see which one will be your next favorite!
Mouse: PI For Hire Deep Dive shows how this long-awaited black and white first-person shooter was created
Mouse: PI For Hire was the grand finale of the fall ID@Xbox Showcase, and we got a detailed look at how this striking and long-awaited black-and-white first-person shooter was brought to life.
It all started with the look of the game, which the Fumi Games team described as an elderly cartoon from the 1930s that our grandparents watched when they were children. It also draws great inspiration from the Rubber Hose animation style of the 1920s and 1930s, which allowed them to play with the way everything bends, stretches and compresses.
We then learned about some of the characters that Detective Jack Pepper will meet on his journey through Mouseburg, as well as how there will be a main hub that includes Jack’s office, pub, and workshop. These will all have NPCs and will be places where you can upgrade your numerous weapons and even play a baseball-style trading card game using cards you find throughout the game.
Finally, they touched on the gameplay issue and confirmed that we will be playing in over 10 biomes, each of which will have 1-4 levels. Enemy variety was also essential, as you can face a charging enemy, but later in the game you’ll find out he’s learned how to employ a force field. Your arsenal will be more than ready though, as you’ll have access to a pistol, a shotgun, a submachine gun, a freeze gun, and even a sentient weapon that’s like a brain in a jar on a gun.
There’s still a lot to reveal about Mouse: PI For Hire ahead of its March 19, 2026 release date, and we’ll be covering all the major details here as they emerge.
