While the noise surrounding Nintendo Switch 2 could take up most of my attention for the last few months, there is another textbook that I remember: Ayaneo Flip 1s DS. The Chinese Game Marek for the first time began to irritate with a manual game for games with a similar area to the iconic Nintendo DS a few months ago, but now it is available to the order, and the only thing that will stop me is the price.
For those who don’t know, Ayaneo Flip 1S DS is a continuation of last year’s Flip DS, which in my opinion was one of the best consoles in 2024. Sure, ergonomics needed some work, and the software had its moments, but both the pattern and performance were fantastic, as I explained in the Flip DS 8/10 Ayaneo review. Now his successor is here and, if I can say, he looks even better than the original.
As for specifications, Ayaneo Flip 1S DS should be something like a performance beast, regardless of whether you are receiving the version with the most state-of-the-art AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor, or a model with a slightly older Ryzen 7 88840U processor. Or one of these processors has more power than the OLED steam deck, so this thing should be more than able to run all the best games on board. It also has at least 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of memory, offering a lot of space for storing games and, probably quite speedy charging time.
By switching to screens, both the upper and lower displays Flip 1S DS are as tempting as you can expect from such a portable costly. The main display is the 7-inch OLED 144 Hz, which should mean that you get colorful colors and a super sleek gameplay, while the bottom 4.5-inch IPS display is sufficient to perform secondary tasks while playing in the upper half. If all this was not good enough, it is also in pretty colors, including a black, starry yellow and retro shade. This is not obvious from the name, but the retro power is lithe gray, reminiscent of PS1.
While Flip 1S DS sounds quite impressive, you may want to keep the hat for this next piece. The cheapest possible configuration costs 799 USD, which is much more costly than the OLED steam deck and Nintendo Switch 2, while the most valuable option would restore you by USD 1,559.
