HoYoverse may be getting ready to put Sunday and Tingyun – Fugue, who I affectionately call Fugueyun or Deadyun (IYKYK), loose in Honkai Star Rail, but that doesn’t stop them from teasing the characters from HSR 3.0 anymore. First up was Herta, a five-star puppet variant of Herta who was present at launch with an impressive hat and, surprisingly, the same path and elements as her four-star version, Ice and Erudite. It’s invigorating.
More invigorating is Aglaea, a five-star master tailor on Amphoreus, the newest HSR 3.0 planet. This is the first confirmation that Amphoraeus is next in line. Oh, and Aglaea walks the path of Memory. HoYovers accidentally threw this into Aglaea’s character art like it was no large deal, just a normal thing to reveal Twitter on Tuesday evening. No official mention, nothing. But Remembrance will surely come.
The more observant of you probably won’t find this information surprising. Given how much attention HoYoverse has started paying to Erudite lately, including teasing a 5-star Herta in the previous update, I assumed Erudite would be the most critical thing on Amphoreus. However, after a friend reminded me of the Black Swan role at the beginning of HSR 2.0 and how critical Fuli and The Remembrance were in those conversations, I realized that HoYoverse was actually preparing for this all along.
It is not known how Remembrance will play. In the Herta Simulated Universe and its various iterations, Memory blessings are tied to the freeze effect and freeze-specific debuffs. Any character with Ice affiliation can cause a freeze when they smash an enemy, regardless of path. Other Star Rail paths are more broadly defined based on playstyle – Harmony support, Abundance health, damage over time, and Nihility debuffs – which seems strangely specific to the entire path, not to mention the odd case of an Electric character like Aglaia in general.
In miniature, expect something unexpected that will likely shake up the meta, perhaps it will have something to do with the recalled aid that some Star Rail leakers have been writing about over the last few months.
Honkai Star Rail 3.0 should be available around January 14, 2025. In the meantime, brush up on your Acheron and Aventurine knowledge if you’re planning any trains in the near future, and grab some HSR codes if you need some freebies.
