We’ve come a long way since “Ugly Sonic” first appeared in a trailer back in 2019. While the first Sonic film wasn’t necessarily the greatest video game adaptation of all time, it launched a world with Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, and, in the latest installment, Keanu Reeves as the Shadow.
In IGN’s review of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, AA Dowd writes, “Better jokes, better imagery, and two (!) comic book-inspired cameos from Jim Carrey give this Sonic sequel an edge over its too-kid predecessors.” We already know that the series will not stick to the trilogy: Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is already confirmed for 2027.

Sonic 3 streaming release date
The first place to watch Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be on Paramount+, not Netflix or Disney+. While we don’t have an exact release date, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was in theaters for just over six weeks, and Paramount’s 2024 releases Smile 2 and A Quiet Place: Day One followed a similar schedule. On this basis Sonic the Hedgehog 3 should appear on Paramount+ in mid-February 2025.
Sonic 3 physical release date

The first two Sonic movies are available on Blu-ray and are also quite basic to find online. Both films can be streamed on Hulu and Paramount+, with the first Sonic additionally available on Peacock and Prime Video. You’ll find most other Sonic adaptations on Paramount+, including “90’s cartoon and this year’s Knuckles.
