While players cannot witness individual famed series, The origins of the Dynasty Warriors features a total of six unlockable endings, with each faction having both regular and true endings.
However, unlike normal endings, which can be unlocked by simply selecting a hero and reading their stories, drawing true conclusions from each story will require a lot more work. Here’s how to unlock the true endings for the Wei (Cao Cao), Shu (Liu Bei), and Wu (Sun Jian) factions in The origins of the Dynasty Warriors.
How to unlock the true ending of Shu (Liu Bei)
After selecting Liu Bei as your chosen hero in the third chapter of the game and unlocking the normal ending for his route, you will be able to unlock the true ending for the Shu faction in The beginnings of DW defeating Cao Cao at the Battle of Changban and then ending the story as he saw fit. The battle will take place at the beginning of the fifth chapter and you can jump straight to it by going to Story. - Choose Lu Bei as your hero and complete Shu’s story.
- Go to Story and select the Battle of Changban in Chapter 5.
- Continue the mission until Cao Cao joins the fight.
- Focus on clearing out most of the officials in the southern part of the battlefield, then head north to defeat Cao Cao and receive the Changed Fate message (proof that you’ve unlocked a recent story path).
- Complete the stage and continue the story to unlock the true ending.
If you plan on taking on a mission on Hero level or higher, be sure to level up as Cao Cao and his personal army will be very effortless to defeat. You will also need to complete the task quickly, because just as you will be shooting at their commander, Liu Bei will be public enemy number one for the opposing faction.
How to unlock Wei’s true ending in Dynasty Warriors Origins (Cao Cao)
A huge step up from the difficulty of the Shu route, you can unlock the True Ending for the Wei faction in The origins of the Dynasty Warriors after unlocking the regular ending and completing the story after ensuring that Dian Wei survived his final attack at the Battle of Wan Castle in Chapter 3, Guo Jia remained alive after the Battle of Bailang Mountain in Chapter 5, and Huang Gai’s plan failed in the battle under Chibi. Here’s how to do all of the above:
- How to save Dian Wei during the Battle of Wan Castle
- Once in the battle for Wan Castle, start by heading towards the enemy base to the right of the castle and clearing it, then go and capture the base on the opposite side.
- Stop the invasion at the southernmost base of the map (point E) before joining Cao Cao’s main forces in the center and defeating as many Mighty Generals as you can until Guo Jia summons the ladders.
- Enter the outskirts of the castle through the western base and head south until you spot one of the ladders leading to the walls.
- Enter the castle grounds and kill Zhang Xiu, Jiu Xu and Zhang Quan. You will find all the officials at the gate connecting the castle walls with the western part of the map.
- Go to the eastern part of the area and kill Huche’er.
- When all of the above are defeated, their forces will disappear, Dian Wei will mention that the number of enemies is decreasing and you will unlock the Changed Fate message. If this doesn’t happen, it’s a sign that you took too long to clear the referees, so restart and try again.
- How to make sure Guo Jia survives the Battle of Bailang Mountain after the match
- The key here will be to make sure Bailuan doesn’t gain time during the battle, so start by capturing the two enemy bases in the southwestern part of the map.
- From there, continue west towards the base northwest and defeat both the army guarding it and Yuan Xi and Yuan Mai who attack it.
- After capturing the base, Bailuan will enter the field, so defeat him to change the fate. If he mentions how he achieved his goal, start over.
- Complete the stage to prevent Guo Jia’s death.
- How to stop Huang Gai in the Battle of Chibi
- From the beginning of the battle, quickly go to the altar located in the southwestern part of the map, just below point E. Remember to defeat as many officials as possible along the way and only speed up when Zhuge Liang starts getting close to it to strengthen his army.
- Reach the altar and defeat Zhuge Liang to foil his plan.
- Continue fighting until Huang Gai retreats.
- Wait until Huang Gai appears again and go to the marked place in the center of the map.
- Stay close to this area until Guo Jia mentions a change in winds.
- Enter the marked area and defeat Huang Gai.
- Once he is defeated, simply complete the stage to unlock the true ending.
How to unlock the true Wu ending in Dynasty Warriors Origins (Sun Jian)
Once you unlock the Normal Ending, you can unlock the True Wu Ending The beginnings of DW ending the story after saving Sun Jian during the Battle of Xiangyang in Chapter 3 and Sun Ce during the suppression of Wu in Chapter 4. You can check how to do it in both cases below:
- How to save Sun Jian during the Battle of Xiangyang
- From the moment Sun Jian starts approaching Huang Zu, head towards the path located in the southeastern part of the battlefield and continue until you meet Phantom Zhang Jiao.
- Defeat the specter before rushing towards Sun Jian.
- To make sure you succeed, try to reach him before or together with Huang Gai. After reaching Sun Jian, a cutscene will trigger the Changed Fate effect. The stage will also end immediately.
- How to save Sun Ce while suppressing Wu
- From the starting point of the battle, go to Sun Ce and Sun Quan while clearing the enemy base in C.
- Go and capture the bases north of point D and west of point A. This is a must as you need to keep your morale high and enhance your numbers early on to deal with the many ambushes.
- Once Sun Ce begins moving west, follow him and head to the isolated path located in the westernmost area of the battlefield.
- Use the Eyes of the Mystery Bird to spot it, then follow the incense trail towards the secret path southwest, where you will meet Bailuan.
- Defeat Bailuan to trigger the Changed Fate message before completing the stage.
