You will unlock the mercenary system within Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred campaign. During your journey to Nahantu you will meet Raheir who will eventually take you to Den of Mercenaries. This place serves as a kind of center for all mercenaries in the game. This is where you can complete tasks that unlock additional mercenaries, personalize your current allies, and even exchange the special currency you earn by leveling up your mercenaries.

Once you reach the Mercenary Den, you will also be able to unlock additional mercenaries and take them with you. There are currently four mercenaries in the game Diablo 4: :

Please note that if you are a solo player, you should acquire at least one additional mercenary before continuing the game Vessel of Hatred story, otherwise you’ll waste a lot Mercenary Experience (report) during the campaign. Eventually you will need to acquire all the mercenaries before you can continue the quest after the campaign.

If you are playing solo, you can assign any mercenary as your bodyguard. They will constantly travel with you, and you can level them up by defeating monsters together. While mercenaries don’t have equipment you need to worry about, they do have four skill points and a compact skill tree so you can customize their movements. You can change the hired security guard at any time.

If you are a solo player who has already hired a main mercenary, or you are playing in a group (which automatically locks your hired mercenary ally until you are alone again), you can still hire a second mercenary as support. This must be done with a mercenary other than the one currently employed.

Reinforcements also gain Report and level up with you, but they only appear under certain conditions – conditions you set. You can create a trigger with your buff, allowing you to summon them into battle when you exploit a specific skill on your bar. When the trigger happens, they will step in and exploit their assigned skill. This effect has a cooldown, so try to combine its ability with a trigger skill of yours that has a similar cooldown or that you exploit regularly.

Whether as hired bodyguards or reinforcements, mercenaries can radically change the way you think about combat Diablo 4especially if you’re a solo player, so take time during the campaign to experiment with them.

Raheira he’s the first mercenary you’ll meet and he can’t be missed. You will find it during main Vessel of Hatred campaign and will show you the whole system. He will be your first mercenary and you can make him your main bodyguard or reinforcement. Raheir was built to protect you and serves as a tank. He has abilities that allow him to intervene if you are about to die, or taunt enemies into attacking him instead. It also serves as a cave blacksmith and can repair or save your equipment.

Aldkin sits in a cave to the right of Raheira, and you will employ them by “A nameless mystery”, which you can take right after unlocking the Mercenary Cave. Aldkin is a Mercenary magic user and uses a playstyle often referred to as “kiss/curse”, meaning that their skills will harm you in some way, but will bring a powerful benefit. Their abilities are based on shadow and fire magic, and sometimes they transform into a powerful demon that can decimate enemies. They also function as a cave occultist and you can upgrade your equipment with Legendary Aspects.

Varyan she’s sitting in a cave to the left of Raheira, and you’ll hire her during “The Killer’s Revenge”, which you can take right after unlocking the Mercenary Cave. Varyana serves as the team’s combat warrior, using two axes or a two-handed mace to dish out punishment. Her main ability is Massacre, which provides a powerful movement speed buff to chain enemy kills together.

sip sits on the left side of the cave and you will employ him during “Feather on the scale”, which you can take immediately after unlocking the Mercenary Cave. Subo acts as the team’s rogue and uses a bow or crossbow to deal damage from afar. Subo’s main ability highlights enemies and materials in the area, and sometimes marks a target, allowing you to regain resources by killing them. His skills focus on traps and stuns or fire and dealing damage over time.
