PSA: Do not buy a VIP invitation

In the hallway leading to Makal’s you’ll hear a guy offering a “VIP invitation” to Gorak’s apartment. You can buy it from him for 50 credits. The offer is tempting, but do not buy an invitation. The bartender will still refuse you entry to Gorak’s apartment – and then laugh at you for falling for the scam. There’s no way to get your money back.

How to Get to Gorak’s Apartment (Really)

To get to Gorak’s apartment, you need to have Deus Ex running. First, head to the back left corner of the bar and go through the boiler room. You’re looking for this door:

Exit through the far side. Turn right when you get outside. Follow the balcony to the end and enter the room on the right:

You’ll find yourself in a closet with a shutter on the opposite wall leading to a vent. It’s locked, but you can operate the Data Spike to unlock it.

Once the shutter opens, go through the vent, climb the ladder in the next room, and activate the elevator at the top to get to Gorak’s apartment. A cutscene will begin there.

For completing this part of the mission you will receive Gorak’s Ringwhich can be sold for 500 credits, but is worth keeping: you’ll be able to operate it to gain some reputation with the Pyke Syndicate in the future.
