What is the Eye Ore used for in the Forge?
If you haven’t come across it yet, you may be wondering what the Ore Eye is for (and if you’ve been trying really, really challenging to get it, you may be wondering if it’s even real). Oka Ore is a Legendary Ore which you will need to find to complete one of Captain Rowan’s quests, which you will receive as part of the main Forgotten Realm quest line.
To find Captain Rowan, you will want to respawn in the Forgotten Realm and turn right. Follow the path until you reach the Ruined Cave and look around opposite the cave – Captain Rowan is hanging out there in the tent. Talk to him and he will ask you to complete several different tasks, all of which involve fending off several enemies and ultimately bringing him a bunch of items. The third mission he gives you is the hardest yet though, as it requires a piece of eye ore.
How to get Eye Ore
Eye Ore can be found in the Broken Cave of the Forgotten Realm and can be mined from any of the following sources found there:
- Basalt rock
- Basalt core
- Basalt vein
- Volcanic rock
If you’re wondering why you haven’t come across Eye Ore yet, even though you’ve already mined plenty of every source rock, it’s for one reason: its slim, compact, and minuscule chance.
Chances of mining eye ore
Unfortunately, Red Eye is extremely sporadic – there is only one 1 in 1333 chance mining it every time you hit one of these rocks. That’s just it 0.00075% chance! However, with a few tips and tricks, you can boost your chances of getting that tricky ore (and hopefully eliminate some of that annoying grinding).
The best way to mine eye ore
The best way to mine this extremely sporadic ore is to boost your luck stat Potions of happinesswhich can be purchased for $350 each from the potion seller in the Forgotten Realm and at Stonewake’s Cross. These boost the likelihood of sporadic ores appearing, so if you have gold, you’ll want to make sure you’re constantly chomping at the bit when hunting for eye ore.
While these aren’t as effective, you can also speed up the process with a few other tricks. Rerolling your race until you become a dwarf may facilitate – Dwarves gain the advantage of increased mining damageso you’ll be able to mine a little faster with this race equipped.
It is also necessary to make sure that you have the best possible pick for your funds. Once you have your best pickaxe on hand, it’s worth doing Equip any Miner Shards perhaps you cling to the Rune Maker. You can find this shop near the Forgotten Realm spawn point – just head straight past the potion stand, turn left when you see the anvil, and head into the shop to equip these shards.
However, with all these improvements, eye ore can take a long time to mine. Patience is key here – if you mine one of the four source rocks in the Ruined Cave of the Forgotten Realm, you’ll get there eventually. Keep trying! It will be worth grinding.
