Chu-Bai Spear is a weapon that you can unlock in the third chapter Black Myth: Wukongand if you have a specialization in movements based on the thrust stance, then your priority should be to master it as soon as possible.
The Spear uses the same Light Combo moves as your staff, deals 75 damage on its own, and increases the damage of Thrust Stance attacks. To unlock the ability to craft Chu-Bai Spear, you must complete the Pagoda Realm Prisoner questline. You first meet the prisoner when you start Chapter 3. He is locked in the cell next to you, and you must break the purple seals before you can talk to him.
Once you reach the Upper Pagoda temple, turn around and fall into the hole in the floor. Fight and defeat the Lotus-Vision Captain, then return to the first level of the Pagoda to talk to the prisoner. You’ll learn that he has a bad feeling about the Captains that roam the Pagoda land, and wants you to bring him their spirits. Once you do, he’ll give you the Chu-Bai Spear Plans.
How to Get Chu-Bai Spear
Once you get to the prisoner’s cell, you’ll have already obtained one of the four Captain’s ghosts. The next one awaits you at the very top of the Pagoda. Either way, you’ll need to defeat Captain Wise-Voice to proceed to the rest of the chapter, but his boss fight will also take you halfway to the Spear of Chu-Bai.
His fight can be incredibly hard, and you’ll want to make sure you have access to Pillar Stance before entering it, as the Pillar’s Charged Attack is the only sure-fire way to avoid Captain Wise-Voice’s devastating Electric attacks on the ground.
Here’s some good news: the next Captain’s ghost doesn’t require a boss fight at all. Captain Void-Illusion is already dead, so you’ll just have to collect his ghost from his corpse. Proceed through Chapter 3 until you reach the Longevity Road Keeper shrine in the Valley of Ecstasy. To the right of the shrine is a massive body with the Captain’s ghost floating behind it.
The final stop on this journey is another boss fight. Captain Kalpa-Wave is just before the corpse of Captain Void-Illusion. He guards the entrance to the New Thunderclap Temple, but has some unusual tricks up his sleeve.
Kalpa-Wave mainly uses stomp attacks, but leaves behind pools of red liquid that deal damage while you stand in them. His frail point is his legs, though, and if you do a lot of damage to them, he can be easily stunned. Just make sure you pull him away from the red liquid before attacking.
Once you have all the spirits, return to the prisoner’s cell in the Lower Pagoda. He will give you the Chu-Bai Spearhead, which combines with 4 Iron Sand, 8 Yaoguai Cores, and 21,000 Will to create a Spear. Now that you have it, start stabbing!
