Excavator: Iron Platform introduces modern secrets and surprises to the game world, which you can discover in a completely modern gameplay experience or one that almost had you going crazy collecting relics. Part of what it does is give you an excuse to return to ancient areas, like Gale Cliffs, in search of modern, strange fish.

To obtain all the samples required for the Gale Cliffs scientist in Excavator: Iron Platformyou need a modern rod and a swift route between the location and the platform. The modern rod is courtesy of the Factory on the platform. Talk to the Engineer and provide her with the Ironhaven Crate and Hydraulic Rod. This will allow her to craft the Infused Winch, which has improved fishing capabilities in coastal, shallow, and ocean waters.
Most of the water around Gale Cliffs is ocean, so the Infused Winch is necessary. Some of it is shallow, but the Infused Winch can fish there as well. I spent way too much time trying to figure out why I couldn’t fish that area after arriving and collecting as much black sludge as possible for Scientist. All of the modern fishing spots require Infused tackle to fish, so don’t bother using your ancient tackle.
Fish the oily spots around Gale Cliffs and you’ll find all the fish you need. There’s also a crab to catch, so make sure you drop a good Crab Pot like Mouth of the Deep and return to it after you’ve caught everything else to make sure you catch it the first time you check the pot.
I used Manifest to quickly travel from the platform and Gale Cliffs to The Marrows, shortening my travel to and from each location. This power is unlocked after completing the main story for Gale Cliffs, so talk to the locals if you want to choose a more optimal route. Alternatively, you can equip a trawler net and employ the travel between locations to maximize your income by selling your catch on the platform.
Below I have listed all the fish you need to catch for the Scientist in Gale Cliffs. Remember that you need to employ a crab trap to catch the Trilobite. You can catch all of them with the Infused Winch, so when you see those places that require Abyssal fishing gear, ignore them.
