How to duplicate Memories in Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree

Published:

Want to know how to recreate Memories in Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree? Memories Duplication was possible in the Elden Ring using Wandering Mausoleums – giant walking structures that housed the remains of soulless demigods. But despite the fact that Shadow Of The Erdtree adds a whopping 10 modern Remembrances bosses to the game, there are no modern Wandering Mausoleums in the Shadowlands. So how do you duplicate modern Memories?

Memories offer many powerful rewards and you can only choose one. That’s why the ability to duplicate Memories is so vital. Fortunately, you can also duplicate Shadow Of The Erdtree Remembrances, and you can do it in two ways. We will inform you about the details in the guide below.

How to duplicate memories in Shadow Of The Erdtree

There are two ways to duplicate Memories in Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree:

  • Use The Wandering Mausoleum back in the Lands Between.
  • Use one of the three Stone coffins in the Shadow Realm.

The first option is the simplest: once you get a modern Erdtree Shadow Memory, you can simply take it back to one of the Wandering Mausoleums in the Elden Ring base map. Most Wandering Mausoleums will only allow you entry after you attack the white skull-shaped growths on their feet so many times that the Mausoleum’s legs collapse. Once the Mausoleum stops moving, you can jump inside and interact with the Stone Coffin inside to recreate a Memory of your choice – even one of the modern Erdtree Shadow Memories.

However, each Stone Coffin (and therefore each Wandering Mausoleum) can only be used once. So if you have already used all 7 Wandering Mausoleums in the Lands Between, you will no longer be able to duplicate them.

For this reason, From Software has added a modern way to duplicate Memories in DLC. Instead of Wandering Mausoleums, you can find Stone Coffins, which serve the exact same function in the Shadowlands. These stone coffins are identical to the ones you interact with in the Wandering Mausoleums, but they are located in an open area, making them much more hard to find (since there is no giant structure with swinging bells to indicate their whereabouts).

These stone coffins will duplicate each other everyone Memory, not just Shadow Of The Erdtree memories. So if you’re out of Wandering Mausoleums and want to recreate one of the remaining Memories from the base game, you can do so now by jumping into the Shadowlands and finding an unused Stone Coffin.

Duplicating every memory?

Unfortunately, there are only 3 Coffins and 10 modern Memories. This means that there are a total of 10 Memories duplication abilities (3 Coffins + 7 Wandering Mausoleums) and a staggering 25 Memories. So if you want to get absolutely every Memory item, the only way to do it is to start New Game Plus, which will allow you to keep your current gear and items but refresh your utilize of Memory Coffins and Wandering Mausoleums.

Memorials Reproduction Coffin locations

There are three Stone Coffins in Shadow Of The Erdtree that you can utilize to replicate Memories, modern and ancient. They are located in the following locations:

  1. Behind the cathedral of Manus Metyr in Scadu Altus.
  2. On the eastern cliff overlooking the Rhia Ruins.
  3. East of the crater in the Finger Ruins Of Dheo.

Let’s take a look below at how to get to each of the coffin locations.

Coffin No. 1: Cathedral of Manus Metyr

The first memory duplication coffin can be found in the water just behind the cathedral of Manus Metyr in eastern Scadu Altus. We’ve written a whole guide on how to get to Manus Metyr Cathedral, but in compact, here’s how to get there:

  1. Once you reach Scadu Altus, head to the Moorth Ruins east of Ensis Castle.
  2. Go down the hole in Moorth Ruins and go through Bonny Village.
  3. Follow the path north to the Church District Highroad, then turn left south to Manus Metyr Cathedral.

Once you get to the Cathedral you can go to the back and you should see the first memory duplication coffin in the water. Watch out for puppet soldiers roaming the nearby waters.

Hint: Talk to Count Ymir

While you’re here, you should introduce yourself to Count Ymir at the Cathedral of Manus Metyr. It’s worth completing Ymir’s questline, which will take you to the location of the other two coffins anyway.

Coffin #2: Rhia’s Finger Ruins

The second coffin can be found in Rhia’s Finger Ruins to the south. These Finger Ruins are located between the Cerulean Coast and Jagged Peak regions and are easily accessible via the sandy beach of the Cerulean Coast.

Once again, we have a whole guide explaining how to get to the Cerulean Coast. The compact version is this: From the Castle Front Site Of Grace south of Castle Ensis, head southeast down the path with the lowest elevation and follow the path left through the swamps and past the Giant Miranda Flower in the water until you reach the Ellac River. From there, follow the river south until you reach the place of Mercy on the Cerulean coast.

Once on the Cerulean Coast, go south until you reach the giant ruins near where the path splits. Head down the left side of the ruins and you’ll find yourself on a sandy beach. Just beyond the giant dragon wing you’ll find another sloping ruin; go around the right side of the ruins and you will enter the Finger Ruins Of Rhia.

From the Finger Ruins Of Rhia Grace, head down the path until you see a hill on your right. Go up the raised path and at the other end of the path you will see a Stone Coffin.

Coffin No. 3: Ruins of Dheo’s fingers

The last coffin can be found in the Finger Ruins Of Dheo, in the upper right corner of the map. It can only be reached through the Hinterland, which in turn can only be reached through the Shadowkeep, where Messmer himself lived.

Once again, we have a guide for you on how to reach Zagłębie. But for the purposes of this guide, here’s what to do:

  1. Go to Bonny Village in Scadu Altus and collect the “O Mother” gesture from the statue to the north.
  2. Reach the attic of the specimen storage room in the Shadowkeep.
  3. Go to the end of the attic and take the two elevators down to reach the Shadowkeep, Back Gate Grace.
  4. Make the “O Mother” gesture in front of the Marika statue in the room next to the Back Gate Grace.

Performing the “Oh Mother” gesture in front of Marika’s statue will move the statue aside, allowing you to enter the Hinterland. At the end of the hinterland is Fingerstone Hill, which leads to the Finger Ruins Of Dheo. The third Memory Duplication Coffin, guarded by a group of Fingers, can be found east of the Shooting Star Beast Crater, near the northern rim.

This concludes our guide to duplicating Memories in Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree and where to find the coffins that grant this duplication power.
