“Bumps in the road” is a task in Fallout76 where you join a business partner and start your own caravan business. It is an integral part of Fall universe, and now you can interact with it every time you log in.
You need to find the quest “Bumps in the Road” in Fallout76 heading to Skyline Valley on the map. It should automatically be added to your quest log as a side quest once you’re there. Check your Pip-Boy for details and keep track of them so you don’t lose sight of what you should be doing. When it comes to completing the quest, you’ll have to get a little brutal and learn what it takes to become a caravan guard in the Appalachian Wasteland.
How to Complete the Quest “A Bump in the Road” in Fallout 76
Below I explain how to complete the A Bump in the Road quest in Fallout76 in effortless to follow steps. It’s not a very complicated task, but there are points that can throw you off balance if you don’t know what to do, as well as tough enemy encounters that will throw you off guard.
Step 1: Examine the flare
The first part of this quest sends you to a watchtower to investigate a flare. In theory, it’s pretty straightforward. Just head to the location marked on your map and look around. This continues until you get to that location and realize you’re in for a tough fight.
The area is full of high level super mutants who are out for blood. One has a minigun on a tower, a few have grenades, and the rest just want to tear you apart with blunt objects. Bring your most powerful weapon to this fight, because they won’t let up. I ended up tearing them apart with a massive axe because I couldn’t hit them.
Once you have eliminated all the Super Mutants and are sure that you really eliminated them, you need to search the cage under the observation tower. There is a body there with an item called Luke’s Holotape that you need to pick up and listen to.
The holotape has a shocking final note from Luke, a man working as a hearse who took a risk he shouldn’t have. He asks you to pick up a load of Brahmin he was using and take it to Milepost Zero. You’ll find the Brahmin next to the body cages at the top of the camp.
Step 2: Visit Milepost Zero
Your next goal is to visit Milepost Zero, a modern location at the very bottom of the map. I quickly moved to a nearby camp and made my way there, but make sure to watch out for the Feral Ghouls in the area, as they are no joke.
Here you will meet Marley. She is trying to start her own caravan company and needs a little assist. If you want to assist her, you will need to buy shares in the company to get it up and running. This costs 500 caps, which is not affordable, but it won’t take you long to earn that much if you play well.
Step 3: Complete the Caravan: Skyline Drive World Event
After paying your entry fee, you need to go out and complete the Caravan: Skyline Drive World Event. This is pretty straightforward, you can either talk to Marley and ask him to lead the caravan or join a World Event that is already in progress. The symbol you want to select to join this World Event looks like a Brahmin head on the map and will take you directly to it.
These world events aren’t the easiest to complete. The Brahmin, your caravan, will head to their destination and you must defend them from everything under the sun that tries to kill them. During this I encountered some incredibly high-level enemies, including a Blue Devil, which was no fun at all.
There will also be sections of trees on the way that will sluggish down your Brahmin. You will need to cut through them with your weapon and rush the Brahmin to complete the mission within the time limit. However, once you reach your destination, you will receive a huge package with supplies and other useful items.
Step 4: Back to Marley
Return to Marley in Milepost Zero and speak to her. Since you are now part of the caravan company, you have a say in who you hire. This will cost you Supplies, which you can earn more of by completing more Caravan World Events.
The workers you hire will add modern features to your caravan company headquarters. For example, I hired a Brahmin Tamer, which allows for effortless access to Brahmin Milk. There are several workers to hire, and eventually you will want to invest in all of them by completing more World Events and spending those supplies. Over time, you will create an incredibly profitable business.
After your first hire, you’ll complete a task. That way, you’ll be prepared for more caravan trips and the prospects of building a flourishing business in the post-apocalypse.
