As we go further Echoes of Destiny 2 Episodesmore and more main and side quests are added every week. After a tiny 2-week break, we are back to grinding for Vex specimens in Specimen number: NES004 a task that will take you a long time to complete.
You’ll get the Specimen ID: NES004 quest as you progress through A Rising Chorus: Act II. At some point during this quest, you’ll report to Failsafe, who’ll give you a modern quest. It’s similar to the Specimen quests in the trailer, in that you’ll venture out into the system in search of a Vex specimen that needs to be examined and brought back to HELM for further study.
How to fill out the Sample ID form: NES004 in Destiny 2
Below I have broken down the Specimen ID: NES004 quest in Destiny 2 into easy-to-follow steps. Follow them or find where you’re stuck and track what you need to do to avoid getting stuck. I’ve tried to suggest the most effective route possible through the task and indicate which activities will get you done the fastest so that downtime is minimal.
Step 1: Open the chests at the end of the Episode Echoes activities
The first part of this quest requires you to open chests at the end of the Episode Echoes activity. To simplify things, you need to open chests at the end of each activity you access from HELM. This includes Echoes Battlegrounds and Breach Executable.
I’ve found Breach Executable to be the best for this step, as you have to open 3 chests total, and it’s the easiest activity to complete. Battlegrounds have much harder final bosses and confined respawn sections, making them last much longer and potentially require multiple restarts in the final encounter.
Step 2: Purchase Echo Engrams on Echo Hardware
Once you have opened all three chests, return to HELM and visit Failsafe. You will need to open the Seasonal Engram Decoding menu and focus five of them on your gear. I was at a much higher Power level than these engrams offered, and you may be too. Regardless, you will need to decode five of these engrams on the armor piece to complete this step Specimen ID: NES004.
Step 3: Collect the extracted data and defeat the powerful warriors
This third step of the quest requires you to collect Extracted Data from the Breach Executable activity. I managed to complete this part in one go. Just make sure you take your time and collect and deposit as much Extracted Data as possible.
The second part of this step is to defeat the powerful warriors. You can do this in any Episode Echoes activities, but Breach Executable is, once again, the fastest way to do it. I completed the quest with any Echoes Battlegrounds, but it took me an hour longer than I would have liked because the players I was with were struggling with the boss a lot.
Step 4: Change everything to Failsafe
Once you return to Failsafe with this final step, you’ll receive the Mirror-Encrypted Hydra Tail. Place it with the rest of your disgusting collection of Vex body parts and you’ll complete the quest. That way, you’ll be up to speed and ready to tackle Specimen ID: NES005 when it drops.
