How to Add Epic Games Titles to HoYoPlay Launcher on PC

Published:

Release Ground Zero without Zen means that more people than ever will be paying attention to HoYoPlaya combined launcher for all of HoYoverse’s PC games. HoYoPlay was originally introduced in behind schedule May and is slowly being rolled out to replace the previous separate launchers for each game. It also marks the apparent end of HoYo’s partnership with Epic — which had put the last three HoYo PC releases on its store as an alternative way to access the games — which makes sense now that HoYoverse has come up with an in-house alternative. Indeed, ZZZ is the company’s first game to require HoYoPlay upon launch on PC.

The good news is that Zenless Zone Zero should show up for you via HoYoPlay without a hitch. However, if you’ve previously installed and managed your HoYoverse games via the Epic Games Launcher, you may have run into a problem where HoYoPlay doesn’t recognize its own games, even if you point it to the correct folder.

Fortunately, there is a solution, although it is not obvious. Read on to find out how to fix the HoYoPlay launcher so that all games display where they should.

How to Fix HoYoPlay Epic Games Launcher Problem on PC

First of all, gigantic thanks to u/LadyWithGun on Reddit for bringing this solution to our attention!

The HoYoPlay launcher can try to automatically detect HoYoverse games already installed on your computer, or you can manually search a specific folder if you know where the games are installed. However, the problem occurs when a HoYoverse game installed through the Epic Games launcher cannot be detected by HoYoPlay, even if you point to the folder where the application is installed on your computer.

However, if this happens, you can do the following to resolve the issue:

  • open HoYoPlaygo to All gamesand select the game you want to connect to the novel launcher.
  • Select “Download” as if you were going to reinstall the game.
  • When you’re given the option to choose an install location, find the folder where the game you’re looking for is already installed. The location will likely look something like “C:Program FilesEpic GamesGenshinImpactGenshin Impact game” (for example) – just make sure you choose the folder where the app itself is located.
  • Continue the installation from this location, and HoYoPlay will instead begin verifying the existing app, at which point you should see the game added to the list on the left side of the launcher. Once verification is complete, you can launch the game from within HoYoPlay.

Note: This method has been confirmed to work for adding Epic Games’ installations of both Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail to the HoYoPlay launcher, and will likely work the same for Honkai Impact 3rd once it is integrated into the novel launcher.
