Hi, I’m Miki Majka, a game producer at Rock Square Thunder. Today I want to look at the official trailer of the game for our upcoming game for the first time, I hate the place that comes to PlayStation 5 this year. It is a wording, isometric survival horror, all wrapped in bold visualizations in the comic style and soaked in a coarse atmosphere of horror of the 80s.
I also want to take you a little deeper in the way we operate sound as more than just an atmosphere. In hatred of this place, silence is not simply gold – it can mean a difference between life and death.
But first let’s look at the trailer of the game:
These creatures hunt for the sound
As you probably noticed in the film, the world I hate this place is full of nightmarish, unearthly creatures from a fairly amazing and distorted world. But what may not be so clear that many of these monsters can be seen. Instead, they persecute their victim (you) through the sound, so you should think about all your actions and movements. Any steps, any shot, any clink of metal can separate your location.
Regardless of whether you cross overgrown forests or move in objects, the surface under sneakers matters. Slow, squat shuffling by grass will probably be ignored. A negligent tupa for broken glass, not so much.
Making visual noise
To move this system further and make it more clever for players, we also made a sound in a visual language in which the noise is marked with colors. It is a unique visual system inspired by connecting to the comic style of art. For example:
Green Traces mean that you are peaceful, squat, you move slowly, minimizing the risk
Yellow Signals you go at a normal pace and create a moderate noise
Red means you are running or raucous, and you are a lighthouse for danger
However, this colorful feedback system does not only apply to traces. Shooting, thrown objects, even howling and attacks of enemies, are consistent with the same principles of noise visit, helping to assess how much noise create all your actions.
Sound like a weapon
Like the sound, it can kill you, it can also be used in your favor and become the most useful weapon.
With a little strategy and planning, you can lure monsters from key areas or to cleverly arranged traps. Putting an empty can in the corridor or thicket can attract a nearby creature, giving you a hole that you must escape.
With a slightly greater planning and thought, you can try enemies together to the perfect place to then throw a navy blue cocktail or Molatov, which happened to Scronge.
Stealth is your friend
The fight in hate this place is to choose the battles. Many creatures you encounter are brutal, and even more so when the night falls. The tilt of the pistols is feasible, but maybe not always the right move. Ammunition is occasional, noise is risky and the enemies are merciless.
So the next time you feel the temptation to sprint in an open field or you think that shooting with a shotgun in a tight corridor is a good idea, think twice. I hate this place, it’s not only what you do is how raucous you are when you do it. Instead, you can rely on hiding, movement and manipulation. The operate of the area, sound tips and the behavior of the enemy become the second nature when you learn to move around the environment and survive.
It’s all for today’s deep diving about our fight and a potentially induced sound of paranoia!
Thank you very much for reading.
