Honkai: Star Rail Yunli’s Best Design

Published:

WITH Honkai: Star Railway version 2.4, the master swordswoman Yunli joins the playable roster as a restricted five-star. If you’re thinking of pulling her from her banner or are just looking for a bit of insight, here’s everything you need to know about building her.

Yunli’s Strongest Structure Honkai: Star Railway

Yunli is Physical destruction a character whose main focus revolves around using powerful follow-up attacks through counters to destroy her enemies. From a gameplay perspective, Yunli plays incredibly similarly to Clara. She plays so closely to her that any place you could put Clara in your team, you could replace her with Yunli. As a result, she is a stronger version of Claraapart from most of its weaknesses.

Much like Clara, Yunli wants enemies to hit constantly to trigger her Follow-up attacks. However, her unique mechanic is her parry-based Ultimate. The majority of her damage comes from this Ultimate and requires you to “timing” your attacks, which basically boils down to making sure you only trigger her Ultimate when an enemy is next to attack in the turn order. The last vital thing to know about Yunli’s Ultimate is that it’s an AoE taunt, meaning she’s fantastic at protecting her allies while dealing incredible damage.

In conclusion, Yunli is a really straightforward character to learn and play, and while she asks so little of you, she offers a lot. Again, if you’ve played Clara at all, then you pretty much know how to play Yunli.

The best relics for Yunli

Considering that almost all of Yunli’s damage comes from her Follow-up attacks, she only has two Relic options you should consider. Her best kit in the slot (BiS) is Brave gliding on the wind set as it gives her extra ATK%, increased Follow-up damage and increased Ultimate damage. It is a uncomplicated set compared to many others in Honkai: Star Railwaybut that doesn’t make it less effective.

Her second option is Grand Duke Burning Ash a set that focuses more on increasing the damage of Follow-up. What’s unique about this set for Yunli is that the 4-piece set requires Follow-up to hit multiple times in a single instance to gain the maximum benefit from it, which her Ultimate Counters can consistently provide. While this isn’t the best set for Yunli, it’s still an extremely competitive option, especially if you have great sub stats.

When it comes to Yunli’s Sphere and Rope set, she also has two solid options. Her BiS is easily Duran, the Running Wolves Dynastybecause it gives her substantial bonuses to Follow-up attacks. Just make sure you apply her with another Follow-up attacker (like Topaz or Aventurine) to take full advantage of this feature.

Her second recommended set is always competitive The limp SalsottoThis set provides a solid damage buff to Ultimate and Follow-up attacks, as well as a solid dose of extra CRIT RATE.

Best Comp Yunli Team

As mentioned before, Yunli can be placed anywhere Clary can or would be used. Knowing this, I can recommend two team compositions.

This First Is Robin, Topaz, AND AventurineThese three characters currently form the core of the Follow-up team. Honkai: Star Railway. Yunli would replace Dr. Ratio in this build, which I think is a plus due to Ratio’s extreme single-target DPS focus. She’s incredibly effective regardless of how many enemies are on screen, while still dealing comparable (if not more in most cases) damage.

Robin in this build, Yunli and the rest of her team get a gigantic, unconditional DMG boost, as well as a steady supply of full team Advance Forwards through her Ultimate. She is definitely Yunli’s best companion.

Topaz boosts the power of all of Yunli’s Follow-up attacks, including her Ultimate. Topaz, being a Hunt character, also deals significant single-target damage, helping Yunli take down enemies with ease.

Aventurine helps Yunli stay alive with her incredible shields, and also deals a lot of damage thanks to the frequency of her follow-up attacks in this build.

This second team focuses on strengthening Yunli as the Hypercarry in the team, providing her with everything she needs at any time. This competition involves using Tingyan, HuohuoAND Robin.

Tingyan provides Yunli with a massive damage bonus and helps her generate energy to sustain her ultimate abilities.

Huo Huo also provides Yunli with increased damage through her buff, as well as generating energy. Additionally, seeing as Abundance, she is exceptional at keeping Yunli alive and well purified.

Robin provides the largest DMG buff out of the three, and also provides a eternal full team Advance Forward through her Ultimate. This means that both Tingyan and Huohuo generate more energy for Yunli.

Should you buy Lightcone Yunli? Honkai: Star Railway?

If you plan on taking out Yunli, take her Lightcone. Sunset Dance it does a lot of the standard stuff you’d expect from a signature Lightcone, but its main advantage is the greatly increased Taunt value it grants Yunli. While equipped, it’s much more likely to be attacked by enemies in normal gameplay, meaning it deals more counterattacks and generates more energy. More energy means more Ultimate counterattacks, meaning more overall damage.

While you can get by with something else, the Taunt Value boost in Dance at Sunset is too valuable to Yunli for me to recommend anything else. Oh, and it’s also really powerful on Clara, since Yunli and Clara play pretty much the same. Go figure.

The best Eidolons for Yunli in Honkai: Star Railway

Yunli is an extremely powerful character in E0 and barely needs Eidolons to function. Her Lightcone is more vital than any of her Eidolons, but if you still plan on pulling some, E2 is a good stopping point. Here are all of her Eidolons for your information.

  • Weathered blade does not stain (E1) – Provides a gigantic DMG boost to Yunli’s Ultimate Counter, and also allows him to hit three additional times with one throw. Very powerful, very good.
  • The First Light of Dawn (E2) – Yunli’s counters will ignore 20% of the target’s defense at all times. Very uncomplicated, but still powerful. Best stopping point
  • Mast rotation on the scale (E3) – Yunli’s Ultimate counters will do more damage due to the extra ranks they get. Solid Eidolon for being rather basic.
  • Ironsong Artisans (E4) – Yunli gains 50% effect resistance after using Counter. Honestly, this one is pretty useless since your support should take care of it. A real team composition will never see this Eidolon being useful. Bad.
  • The Blade of the Old Man Lasted Everything (E5) – Increases Talent level, meaning stronger counters. Good, but not worth investing in unless you’re going to E6.
  • Walking in the Blade, Talking in the Zither (E6) – This Eidolon effectively removes the “Parry” mechanic from Yunli’s gameplay, as well as significantly increasing the damage of all of her counters. That said, when it comes to E6, I think one is a bit flat compared to the others.
