Honkai: Star Rail will explore Greek mythology in the next world

Between Fortnite AND Hades 22024 was a good year for games inspired by Greek mythology. The next game to follow this trend is a sci-fi adventure game Honkai: Star Railway.

In February 2024, developer Hoyoverse released update 2.0 for Honkai: Star Railway and added the world of Penacona. Since then, the game has largely focused on adventures set in this dreamlike world. However, this will soon change. Hoyoverse has confirmed that the upcoming 2.7 update will be the final patch before the members of the Astral Express finally head to the fresh world: Amphoreus. A teaser trailer released on Friday as part of the v2.7 livestream program showed the first look at this world and showed that this fresh location would be inspired by Greek mythology.

The trailer did not show any gameplay, instead telling the mythical story of Amphoreus’ origins, with graphics styled to look like Athenian vase paintings. For a while, the narrator talks about how the world started out as chaos, but then the gods knocked down the “Coreflames” and the Titans were born. From there we meet several characters from this saga, such as the “messenger with three faces” who passes through countless doors, and the daughter of the River Styx. Finally, the trailer also shows a brief look at Herta’s return and her fresh five-star form.

It’s effortless to get ahead of ourselves, but there’s still one patch left before the storyline around Amphoreus kicks off in Update 3.0. That said, it’s not like there’s nothing to look forward to in 2.7. The next patch will finally welcome the return of the villainous (and wonderful) leader of the Penacona on Sunday.
