Good Construction of Honkai Star Rail Jiaoqiu may look a little different than you might expect based on how his kit works. Jiaoqiu needs hit rate to do well, but he has so many sources of that stat that you don’t have to prioritize it over everything else. He also doesn’t benefit from regular DOT builds, as it takes him a while to apply max stacks of his debuff to enemies.
On the brilliant side, the unique nature of his kit means you have a ton of options available to you and should have an easier time building him, hopefully without endless grinding for the right kit. If you’re not sure how Jiaoqiu works, check out our Jiaoqiu kit explainer for more details.
Our Honkai Star Rail Jiaoqiu design takes into account his best airy cone and relics, and we also added the recommendations of the Jiaoqiu team.
Honkai Star Rail Jiaoqiu Construction and Teams
Honkai Star Rail Jiaoqiu Light Cone
HoYoverse has doubled the number of uses of the signature airy cone in patches 2.x and Jiaoqiu, These many sourcesis no different. It increases the user’s hit rate by 60 percent – perfect for maximizing Jiaoqiu’s Trace buff bonus – and gives them a 60 percent base chance to deal Unarmored to an enemy when they operate their primary, ability, or ultimate ability. Enemies with the Unarmored debuff take 10 percent more damage for two turns, and if they have a damage-over-time effect from the user, there is a 60 percent base chance for Unarmored to turn into Cornered, in which the enemy takes 14 percent more damage.
When combined with maxed out Jiaoqiu talent and assuming the target has five Ashen Roasts, the opponent takes 39 percent more damage from Jiaoqiu skills alone.
That may be a good thing, but Jiaoqiu has other options. Silver Wolf’s Incessant rain is his best alternate 5-star Cone of Light, as it increases hit chance by 24 percent, buffs the user’s critical hit chance against weakened enemies, and has a chance to implant an Aether Code that causes enemies touched by it to take 12 percent more damage for a turn.
Before starting the tutorial mission is probably the best, most achievable choice if you don’t want to throw Jade at the Light Cone banner. You can get it and its stacking materials from an event early in the game, and it also buffs the user’s effects hit rate by 20/40 percent. The user also gets a tiny boost to energy regeneration if they attack a target with reduced defense, which Jiaoqiu may or may not do often, depending on who else is on their team.
Another mighty 4-star option is Eyes of the victimwhich increases the user’s effect’s hit rate by 20 percent and increases damage over time by 24 percent. Jiaoqiu’s talent deals a fair amount of DOT, so it’s an excellent match if you have it, despite the lower effect’s hit rate buff.
If you are modern to HSR and are mainly looking for 3-star options, look no further Vacuum. Increases the effectiveness of user effects by 20/40 percent, but only for the first three turns of battle.
Honkai Star Rail Jiaoqiu Relics
Jiaoqiu’s Relic options are versatile, given that most of his utility comes from passive effects, though at his debut, community choices for his Relics run the gamut from customary DOT builds to unorthodox speed builds that forgo any damage increases so Jiaoqiu can act more often. He needs speed, offense, and effect hit rate, though speed trumps all of those. The more often Jiaoqiu attacks, the more Ashen Roast stacks he can accumulate.
Jiaoqiu has a lot of hit resistance thanks to his additional Traces, so with these buffs and the selection of Cone of Light you can stack attacks at will to enhance the damage of his Ashen Roast DoTs each turn.
One option is to combine two works, The Musketeer of Wild Wheat and two works, The Prisoner of Deep Isolationsince both give the user a 12% attack buff. The full Confinement set allows the user to ignore enemy defenses based on the number of DOTs they have, but this isn’t a great option considering Jiaoqiu’s low damage multipliers.

Some players recommend Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters to get a damage boost when enemies have debuffs, which often happens when Jiaoqiu is nearby, but she needs an attack to scale her talent. Flat damage boosts aren’t as helpful.
A two-piece set of any of these items plus two pieces of Messenger Traversing Hackerspace is also a solid choice. Hackerspace’s dual-effect increases the wearer’s speed by six percent—a seemingly tiny amount, but it helps as Jiaoqiu’s base speed starts to enhance. If HoYoverse releases an energy regeneration kit at some point, that would also be a good idea for Jiaoqiu to fire off her ultimate more often.
Honkai Star Rail Jiaoqiu Ornaments
Jiaoqiu also has several decoration options to choose from, depending on which stats you want to boost. If you need attack, you can choose:
- Herta’s Space Sealing Station: Increases Attack by 12 percent, then by another 12 percent when the user’s Speed reaches 120 or more.
- Firmament Frontline Glamoth: Increases attack by 12 percent, then another 12/18 percent once the user’s speed reaches 135/160
Glamoth’s speed requirements are strenuous to achieve unless you get very lucky with your sub stats.
Another choice of kit is Fleet of Eternitywhich grants the wearing player a 12 percent HP boost and increases the team’s Attack by 10 percent when the user’s Speed reaches 120 or higher.

Pangalactic Trading Company is a last resort if you’re having trouble reaching the Jiaoqiu effect hit rate. It gives the user a 10 percent enhance in EHR, then increases their attack by 25 percent of their EHR.
Honkai Star Rail Jiaoqiu Statistics
Jiaoqiu has a Trace bonus that increases his attack based on his EHR, and it maxes out when his EHR hits 140 percent. Try to hit that point or as close as possible, then move on to his other stats—primarily attack and speed. Speed may or may not matter depending on who you pair him with, so if you have someone like Asta in your team, you may have an easier time helping Jiaoqiu get going more often without having to grind.
- Content: Effect hit rate (or attack% if you don’t need more EHR)
- Feet: Speed
- Sphere: Attack%
- Lina: Energy Regeneration
Aim for the same three stats for Relic substats – EHR, then Speed and Attack.
Honkai Star Rail Jiaoqiu Teams
Jiaoqiu’s kit is versatile enough to fit any team, whether you need increased damage, DOTs, or buffs for your main DPS. However, he’s not as well suited to a DOT team as someone like Guinaifen or Black Swan, who can stack multiple DOTs in a single turn, so unless you have a scheme to make him work often, don’t replace your regular DOT applicators.

One possible team combination that best utilizes his skills is:
- Acheron
- Jiaoqiu
- Second Nihility of your choice (e.g. Black Swan or, for additional defense reduction, Pela)
- Keep your choice
If you can forgo one of Acheron’s larger buffs by removing Nihility’s second form, you can operate Robin or Bronya instead. Robin’s ability buffs everyone, and her ultimate allows Jiaoqiu to act immediately. Alternatively, Bronya can boost Jiaoqiu’s attack while allowing him to act immediately.
He also works in the Kafka team.
- Kafka
- Jiaoqiu
- The Second Nothingness (for example Sampo or Black Swan)
- Support
Aventurine works well in this composition because his ultimate also boosts Kafka’s periodic follow-up attack.
Really, Jiaoqiu works with anyone, especially if they rely on their ultimate. You can pair him with Yunli or even Misha, add Asta and sustain, and you’re good to go.
