Hollow Knight: Silksong is still a “real” game that will be released

Hollow Knight: Silksong, one of the most anticipated indie games of all time, is “real, in development and will be released,” and fans are still begging for an update more than five years after it was originally announced. The comment comes from a Team Cherry marketing and publishing employee and answers a fan’s question about the game’s progress.

The community eagerly awaiting the sequel thought the reveal was being provoked by a chocolate cake and a few tweets suggesting that “something big” was coming. These teases turned out to be a reference to last week’s Nintendo Switch 2 announcement, leaving fans back to square one. A Nintendo Direct focusing on the company’s recent console is scheduled for April 2, 2025, and considering the first game debuted on Switch hardware, the livestream is another place Hollow Knight fans can hope to see Silksong.

First announced in 2019, Hollow Knight: Silksong was long awaited after the release of the first game. It has been confirmed to arrive on PS5 and PS4 as soon as it is released. There have been glimmers of hope for the community, like random age ratings and store pages that did nothing almost a year ago, and the newest chocolate cake turned out to be just the newest.
