Three months after Microsoft unceremoniously close the studio, Hi-Fi Fever Developer Tango Gameworks is being revived by PUBG publisher Krafton. The company acquired both the studio and the rights to Hi-Fi Fever IP and plans to expand the rhythm-based action game as part of the acquisition. So not only is the studio finding modern life under modern management, but now a compact passion project that could live on instead of dying after one great game.

According to Krafton Press Release In connection with the acquisition, the publisher says it is working with Xbox and ZeniMax to “ensure a smooth transition and maintain continuity” at the studio, which Krafton said in his press release will allow the studio to “continue development RUSH HiFi IP and explore future projects.” The announcement also made it clear that Tango Gameworks’ previous games, such as the original Hi-Fi Fever, Evil inside series and Ghostwire: Tokyo will continue to be available in digital stores even after the studio transitions to the new version.

This is such welcome news after the tragic, senseless closure of Tango Gameworks earlier this year. Hi-Fi Fever developer was one of three studios that Microsoft closed in May, but visible success of the rhythm game a year earlier made it even more shocking. the consequences that followed has put a clear stain on the reputation of the Xbox managementas it was one of the more publicized closures in a year full of industry turnover. While we don’t know what exactly Tango Gameworks will be developing in Hi-Fi Fever universe after that, at least it’s good to know that the future of the studio and the series looks bright again. The game never made it to Switch, despite the rumors that appeared earlier this yearso maybe this port is still in the plans.

If you haven’t played Hi-Fi FeverI just replayed it recently and it still holds up. I bet it’s even more cathartic in light of this news.
