We finally got our first look at Warhammer 40,000’s up-to-date Space Marine 2 class, the Techmarine, as well as an image of its Omnissian Axe.
Publisher Focus Entertainment has posted a screenshot of the Omnissian Ax below, as well as a photo showing the Techmarine model from various angles.
Techmarine will arrive in Saber Interactive’s explosive third-person action game as part of Patch 12 early next year. His Omnissian Ax is a up-to-date melee weapon – a halberd-like weapon with its own set of unique animations, finishers, and progressions, as confirmed by Focus in blog post.
Meanwhile, Techmarine has the Servo-Gun ability. Activating this option will allow you to automatically attack enemies. The up-to-date class also has the passive ability to restore Tarantula Sentry Guns, which can spawn in existing PvE tiers. This all sounds pretty powerful.
In the tradition of Space Marine 2, Focus has dropped some fun little Easter eggs into the PNG filenames of Techmarine and her Omnissian Axe. The Omnissian Ax PNG is called “Toothpick” and the Techmarine PNG is called “01100110_01101001_01101110_01100101_00100000_01110011_01101000_01111001_01110100”.
Fans quickly got to work that this binary sequence actually translates into the expression: “nice shit.”
- 01100110 = e.g
- 01101001 = i.e
- 01101110 = n
- 01100101 = e.g
- 00100000 = (space)
- 01110011 = p
- 01101000 = time
- 01111001 = y
- 01110100 = t
If you’re not into Warhammer 40,000, this might be a bit confusing, but it’ll make most fans of the Grimdark setting smile. For the uninitiated, the Techmarine is a Space Marine-type engineer class that is a huge fan of the Cult Mechanicus, as well as their Chapter. They are tech-savvy and specialize in calming the spirits of wounded war machines such as tanks and battleships. All these little things coming out of the back of the Techmarine are the servo arm, the mechadendrite, and the arm-mounted forging screwdriver.
Focus has not said which Traitor Legion the Chaos Techmarine will be affiliated with in PvP. Expect more on this topic soon.
In August, Focus revealed plans for Space Marine 2 patches up to 15, taking fans through the end of the second quarter of next year (June 2026). Techmarine is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2026, the up-to-date Battle Barge expansion is scheduled for release in the same period, and the up-to-date Siege map is scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2026.
Of course, Saber Interactive is also working on Space Marine 3, although it emphasizes that continued support for Space Marine 2 and the sequel are “definitely not competing for resources.”
