Geoffies gave us our first look at the gameplay of Obsidian’s space RPG sequel, The Outer Worlds 2. It looks, as you’d expect, very similar to the first game, but a bit nicer. The game itself was announced in 2021, but since then we haven’t seen a vague satirical sign or a very vast weapon. Now we have both, plus some hitting. Here’s the trailer.

The Outer Worlds 2, which you can find on Pair herewill be released sometime next year. You will explore a up-to-date frontier called the Arcadia Colony. It’s “engulfed in faction warfare,” which is probably bad news for the locals, but undoubtedly good news for people who like to choose which side they’ll take quests on.
Obsidian studio head Feargus Urquhart talked about the progress of the game back in August, which they were working on in parallel with the fantasy RPG Avowed. “It’s going really well,” Urquhart said. “Grounded turned out to be amazing. Pentiment turned out amazing. Avowed will be great. Outer Worlds 2 looks amazing. We now have a database of everything we did with Avowed and Outer Worlds 2, and how to utilize Unreal Engine and all the tools we’ve been developing for years to create the entire next generation of games.
Here’s a review of the first game by Alice Bell (RPS in peace). “The Outer Worlds is okay, right. It’s good fun. Sit back and let the orange and neon flood you. Boo the cartoonishly evil corporations,” she wrote. “But you can see it could have been great if a few extra risks had been taken. Real space cowboys take risks, right?”
