A stupid joke I once made with my roommate was asking if we were “born in Chernobyl?” as a game of “were you born in a barn?” every time one of us left the lithe on before leaving the apartment. Now that I think about it, it doesn’t make much sense, but such things rarely make sense. In hindsight, a more true question might have been “Did you run STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl at full specs or something?”, because given the recent system requirements of the upcoming FPS, you’re going to need a sensibly laissez-faire approach to literally every other matter in your life, which does not involve the purchase of juice-absorbing equipment.
Here are the specifications mentioned. Every day we get further and further away from God, and I get further and further away from being even remotely satisfied with my current setup.
First, 160 GB of SSD space is required – a full 10 GB of the previously stated size. The minimum RAM requirements have also doubled, from 8GB to 16GB. Specs previously “Recommended” are now “Average”, but the advantage is that the minimum requirements themselves are not too demanding. You’ll also have the choice of Nvidia DLSS or AMD FSR 3.1 upscaling, with further potential frame rate increases thanks to DLSS 3 and FSR 3.1 frame generation.
In September, James met with GSC CEO Ievgen Grygorovych to talk about how the game reflects the “rebellious” spirit of Ukraine. “We, as Ukrainians, have our own identity,” Grygorovych said. “We identify ourselves as Ukrainians. We have a completely different history and identity than other countries around us and for us. Historically, we have been a very rebellious nation that has had many revolutions, and these revolutions were mainly caused by wanting to be free and gain more freedom.”
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl will be released next Wednesday, November 20.
