Arrowhead Game Studios has made an update Hell Divers 2 since launching with Warbonds, content packs containing recent weapons, cosmetics, and armor. Arrowhead promised that each Warbond would be geared toward a specific fantasy, like ’80s-style Viper Commanders. The next Warbond is Freedom’s Flame, which heavily references a popular tool of war: fire. Lots and lots of fire.
Firearms are already part of Hell Divers 2and they can be a risky strategy on the battlefield. For example, I love using my Breaker Incendiary against waves of Terminids, because it completely melts those sneaky little buggers. It also burns and kills other Helldivers in — or near — my line of fire. I might be tempted to equip a recent weapon in Freedom’s Flame Warbond, because they sound very nippy, if also dangerously deadly.
The SG-451 Cookout is a pump-action shotgun with incendiary phosphorus pellets, while the FLAM-66 Torcher is a lightweight flamethrower that is a more economical choice than the Flamethrower Stratagem. And if you want to go even smaller, the recent secondary weapon is the P-72 Crisper, a pocket flamethrower that explodes at low range.
The armor sets are especially stimulating for all my friends who have been burned by amiable fire; they have a bonus that grants 75% fire resistance. Now everyone can stop yelling at me for setting them on fire; that’s great. Finally, there’s a booster that ignites the ground the Hellpods land on, making the landing gear even more deadly to bots and bugs.
The Flame of Freedom Warbond is set to launch on August 8th. It will join Hell Divers 2The biggest update yet, Escalation of Freedom, is set to release on August 6. It’s an stimulating time for the co-op shooter, and Arrowhead has a few more tricks up its sleeve that it’ll reveal later — like a suspicious black hole making whale sounds in Meridia.
