The Democracy Space Station in Helldivers 2 returns with a vengeance, just in time for the Galactic War to return to the Illuminati front. And thank goodness Arrowhead has made some changes to the giant space station that should make it a little more effective for the cause – and also make it less deadly to warm forces.
In case you weren’t around and were thrown into the stratosphere by a inattentive teammate, when DSS first arrived last November, it quickly got on the bad side of many players due to its orbital barrage, which turned out to be a very good at killing helldivers, even better than the intended target of enemies.

Now that players have defeated the terminids in the last Main Order, DSS has returned from a brief hiatus with the latest MO, which brings the action back to the Illumination front. You have 14 Illumination attacks to fend off with the “repaired” station, and two have already been repelled because this is Helldivers 2 and things never stop moving for a second.
The official reason given by Arrowhead for the little DSS chill sesh is that it suffered a “system-wide failure during the initial Illuminate invasion,” which, honestly, we were all a little excited at the time, so it would have been uncomplicated for it to overload, fall over while floating in space and die temporarily.

But now it has been fixed and some corrections have been made. “The Planetary Bombardment tactical action has been disabled offline pending adjustments to optimize certain undesirable externalities,” Arrowhead writes in its briefing. “The Heavy Weapons Distribution tactical action has been added, which will enhance the equipment of Helldivers on an orbiting planet. ” The station can now also move more frequently – “six times more often” according to the developers.
What do the first reviews of the changes look like? Well, as always with Helldivers, a a bit mixed. Some like it, others like it I think it still needs some work and passed it on through GTA 5’s Lamar Davis.
Either way, at least you’re now less likely to die immediately after falling, sharing the fate that Arrowhead’s CEO wants for all the A-list actors cast in Helldivers.
