Helldivers 2 developer is giving all players Killzone items for free next week in response to price gaps – and they’re available now

Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead will be making free Killzone items available to all players starting today, December 19, in response to backlash over pricing.

The first installment of the Helldivers 2/Killzone crossover includes a Killzone-themed armor set, an assault rifle, a banner, a cape, and a player title. If you want all the Killzone items, you’ll have to hand over Super Credits worth almost twice the cost of Premium Bonds and almost half the price of Helldivers 2 itself.

In the post regarding Helldivers 2 Steam pageArrowhead said it has spoken with Killzone developer Guerrilla Games and is currently donating items that were scheduled to be sold as part of the crossover’s second wave next week.

“Since this was our first crossover offering, we’ve been listening to the reaction, and from the feedback we’ve received from our community surveys, it’s clear that crossover content is really high on your wishlists,” Arrowhead said in its statement.

“At the same time, some of you are not satisfied with the product prices, so we will reconsider this.

“Many of you were also concerned that the items wouldn’t be in rotation long enough, and there were some concerns about how these items existed outside of our regular War Bond releases, which are always themed around our own universe.

“Therefore, in cooperation with our friends at Guerrilla (and because we are in the period of holiday cheer), we have decided to offer a gift to all players.

“First of all, today we’re giving away the planned second wave of Helldivers x Killzone collaboration items to everyone for free. Distribution of these items will begin soon, in two waves.”

The gift means that Helldivers 2 players who planned to purchase both sets of Killzone items will now have to spend $10 worth of Super Credits instead of $20.

Arrowhead added that it will be extending the duration of items currently on Superstore from five to 10 days “so you have a chance to get your hands on them and reduce the risk of missing out.” We’re also working on how to permanently restore Killzone items.

Meanwhile, the WASP stratagem will soon be available for everyone to unlock as part of a enormous order.

This morning, Arrowhead insisted that it, and not Sony, was behind the high prices of Helldivers x Killzone products. CCO Johan Pilestedt confirmed that the Killzone crossover was initially intended to be released under war bonds, but Arrowhead decided against it in hopes of avoiding backlash.
