Hands-on with Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight shows a solid game with legal action boilers

Gloomy streets, lots of tasteless people and, most importantly: rain. I am in Gotham. Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark KnightDeveloped by TT Games and published by Warner Bros, it is an adventure game with the open world telling the story of Caped Crusader from beginning to end, thus based on the sequences of action, challenging puzzles I-I-know about this boy.

In terms of block patterns and the highest quality animations, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight It was exactly what I expected when I played in the demo version for about 45 minutes at the practical view of the preview in Gamescom. Less awaited, at least for me, was the sequence of the action I found in the process.

You see, my Lego experience is mainly based on the LEGO Harry Potter series, which is extremely tame. But instead of discovering in the room, collect coins and solve puzzles when I abandoned Gotham, local Ruffes tried to kill me. And I barely left alive because I haven’t discovered the Roll-Dodge option yet.

Don’t get me wrong, Batman definitely needs action, and this first piece of action seemed quite satisfying. Even more than fighting the fist and throwing ninja stars (I assume that Batrangs) were final. The camera is growing, time slows down, and Batman provides a glorious upper height – that’s what you get for a mess with a bat!

After the first duel of people and striking people, I devoted some time to running – or rather flying – around the city. Exploration was a delight and I bet that everyone who loves struggling with hooks and paragliding (that is in the game) would agree. The open world of Gotham is full of collector’s items, such as coins and rubber ducklings, and I think I noticed optional puzzles that I didn’t have to try. The city looks wonderful (not the word I thought I would employ Gotham, but this is the Lego effect for you), although I would not mind a few more neon lights and an additional corner or two.

However, gliding can be a joyful crusade for so long; The time has come to go to the right mission. My task: Find three bears. I scanned the city, found an approximate location of the first bear and returned to the action. Yes. It was a mistake. You see, Batman doesn’t wear this acute dim suit to be fashionable – he should be a hidden guy. In this game, Stealth is what you will need if you do not want to enter a free match for all boxing every few minutes.

So, hunting for the next bear, I tried a different approach, slipping on the roofs and carefully scanning in search of hidden holes. I jumped out of nothing suspected of an enemy from above, opened a truck with a teddy bear, solved a teddy bear (the issue of mixing and fitting shapes) and despite the lack of epic end movements, I felt quite satisfied with my achievement.

However, while collecting a teddy bear, I realized that I missed the necessary element of the game: Character change! I was told that Lego Batman offers seven playable characters, including Catwoman, Robin and Nightwing. In the demo, in addition to graduating from the Crusader, I have to play as a buddy of Batman, Jim Gordon. Moving them during the fight is optional, but to solve some puzzles, you will need the skills of both characters.

Leaving the open world of Gotham for a low visit to Ace Chemicals, where for some reason red blockheads turned my teddy bear into green gas, I had to solve many other puzzles and hit more bad guys. Like before, Stealth is definitely an pricey here. And thanks to this my demonstration version is over.

There is only one question and perhaps the most significant thing: is Lego Batman amusing? To tell the truth, I have not seen enough movie cutscenes to assess it exactly, but the well -known brand of LEGO stupidity is definitely present. Perhaps the bossest thing in LEGO Batman is the bat itself. As it remains solemn in the most amusing situations, I couldn’t tell you.

Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight It will perform in 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X.
