Paramount+ announced today that it is canceling Xbox Halo TV show after the second season. The team behind the show is reportedly looking to sell the sci-fi adaptation elsewhere to continue the series.

On July 18, Paramount confirmed Hollywood Reporter That Halo The TV show won’t be getting a third season on its streaming platform. In March, the show — based on the popular Xbox video game series — wrapped up its second season, with fans hoping for more after the augment in quality. But that won’t happen, at least not on Paramount+.

“We are incredibly proud of this ambitious series,” Paramount+ said in a statement confirming the news. “And we’d like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries and Amblin Television, as well as showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his fellow executive producers, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as the Master Chief, and the incredible crew for all their outstanding work. We wish everyone all the best in the future.”

Hollywood Reporter says his sources have confirmed that Xbox, 343 Industries, and Amblin are all interested in continuing the live-action series elsewhere. Paramount is reportedly supportive of the plan.

“We are deeply grateful to the millions of fans who have fueled this project. Halo the series will be a global success and we remain committed to expanding Halo universe in a variety of ways in the future,” 343 Industries said in a statement. “We are grateful to Amblin and Paramount for their partnership in bringing our extensive science fiction universe to audiences around the world.”

While TV shows get canceled all the time, it’s worth noting that many other TV shows and movies about video games have found success in recent years, such as The last of usFall, AND Super Mario Bros.. movie. This Fall The TV show just received 16 Emmy nominations and it is probably set to get multiple seasons and spin-offs according to Amazon. But Halo didn’t find the right audience and is now stuck in space, waiting for someone to pick up production and make another season.
