Halo Infinite content comes to an end with Operation: Infinite

Published:

Halo Studios announced that Halo Infinite has come to an end as a live service, and Operation: Infinite will be the last major content update, arriving on November 18.

The writes the team“As we look back on four years of Halo Infinite evolution and updates, we would like to thank our community for your unwavering support. Without your feedback and enthusiasm, Halo Infinite multiplayer would not be the unique place it is today: a solid arena for killing and fun with something for every Spartan.”

“As we continue to build multiple Halo titles, we will need the collective focus of our entire team to deliver novel experiences with the same passion and care that our community has provided us. While we remain committed to supporting Hello Infinite in the future, Operation: Infinite is the last major content update currently planned.”

This latest content update will bring a 2x boost in Career Rank and SP, a 100-tier Operations Pass, eight armor sets to earn, novel Ranked Seasons, and 200 novel customization options in the Exchange.

As such, the game will continue to receive stability updates, and Halo Studios will continue to support the game with rotating in-game challenges that will allow you to progress through Operation Passes, which will remain available, as well as novel Ranked rewards, Ranked Seasons, and community events. There will simply be no more huge content drops and battle passes.

This is mainly because Halo Studios needs to allocate more resources to upcoming projects. There’s a lot of talk about the studio’s elderly plan for Halo Infinite to be a 10-year game, but that plan was created at a completely different time, under the influence of different studio leadership and massive aspirations for the Xbox Series X|S generation. But then Halo Infinite had a rocky launch, the Xbox Series struggled, and Microsoft radically changed its plans. For Halo, the studio moved to work on Unreal Engine 5, the name was changed from 343 Industries to Halo Studios, and Halo: Campaign Evolved was announced – a remake of the first game in UE5, coming to PS5, Xbox Series and PC. Another discussed game related to the live service is said to be in the works.

I enjoyed Halo Infinite for the first year or so of its existence, but it’s actually a bit surprising that the studio lasted as long as it did.
