I’ve had the honor of working on Halo for almost two decades and have been fortunate to share so many amazing moments with players along the way. I’ll never forget today’s announcement: Halo is coming to PlayStation.
For almost 25 years, Halo has offered players an epic sci-fi universe to explore, unforgettable characters to meet, and exhilarating gameplay to experience together. From large-scale battles to the friendships forged during late-night co-op sessions, Halo has always been more than just a game – it’s about the players who make it a part of their lives.
From the beginning, we wanted to build a world full of stories and experiences that would connect people. And now, for the first time, PS5 players will be part of this journey too.
Back to the beginning
We return to the place where it all began – the legendary campaign of Halo: Combat Evolved. This is the story that introduced players for the first time to Master Chief, the super-soldier leading humanity in the fight for survival, and Cortana, the artificial intelligence who became his closest ally. It was there that we met the Covenant, an alien alliance waging war on humanity, and discovered the secret of the Halo Ring – an historic megastructure hiding secrets that could change the fate of the galaxy.
For some of you, it will be a chance to look at the classics again in a completely novel delicate. For others, it will be their first visit to the ring and discovering what makes Halo unforgettable.

What to expect
Halo: Campaign Evolved has been rebuilt from the ground up to honor the original while modernizing the gameplay. The full campaign returns with each mission enhanced with high-resolution graphics and brand novel cinematics. We’ve also improved the gameplay with smoother controls and movement, as well as improved pathfinding and combat. The soundtrack has been fully remastered and the sound design has been overhauled to provide a more immersive experience.

Combat is fiercer than ever with nine additional weapons from across the series added to your arsenal. You’ll also find novel challenges woven into the experience, including three all-new prequel missions featuring the Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson, a decorated Marine who has stood by the Chief’s side from the beginning. These missions take place before the events of Halo: Combat Evolved and introduce novel environments, gameplay, and characters.
Vehicles remain a hallmark of the Halo sandbox, and this time around you’ll have even more freedom to wreak havoc. For the first time in Halo: CE, you can hijack enemy vehicles and even take control of the Covenant’s massive Wraith tank. And if you’re looking for a novel challenge or just want to change things up, the campaign includes the largest ever set of “Skulls” – optional modifiers that combine missions with random weapons, enemies and environments for endless playability. Some Skulls push your limits, such as those that completely disable the HUD to take on a greater challenge, while others prove that not every fight has to be sedate (yes, Grunt’s headshots still turn into confetti).

Better together
What makes Halo unique is not only the gameplay, but also who you play with. The launch of Halo on PlayStation means even more players will be able to take part in the experience. In Halo: Campaign Evolved, you can jump into four-player online co-op with friends, or challenge yourself senior school with two-player couch co-op on PlayStation – now with cross-platform play and cross-progression on console and PC.
Looking to the future
Halo: Campaign Evolved will be released in 2026, date and time of release on PlayStation 5. We’ll have more to share in the coming months, but for now you can add your wishlist today.
As Master Chief once said, “I think we’re just getting started.”
