Last December, finally, Rockstar Games released the first official trailer for the upcoming game Grand Theft Auto 6. The trailer quickly racked up millions of views, with fans scrolling through it over and over, trying to glean as much information as possible. Not even one fan, it seems determined the SPF level of the NPC sunscreen. Strange things but that’s not uncommon in this theory-loving fandom. And now, because of the moon in the screenshot, GTA superfans are convinced that on November 22 we will either receive another trailer or Rockstar will announce when to expect it.
On November 1, Rockstar Games released an update ON GTA Onlinenext gigantic update coming in December. The tweet included a screenshot of a person sitting in a car looking at a building at night. And there is a moon in the sky above. It looks like a pretty mundane and lifeless image. But one fan on Reddit he noticed that the moon apparent in the screenshot was in the waning, gibbous phase. After additional research, the community decided that on November 22 something (probably) happen.
What exactly do they forecast? Well, that remains to be seen – some are hinting at a novel trailer, others are announcing a release date, and still others are teasing a future trailer.
This whole moon theory surfaced shortly after the tweet was published, but as we approached November 22, it continued to gain support and momentum online. At first it was a side theory, but now it’s everything GTA fans can talk right now. I even saw one popular account suggested that since the first trailer featured Tom Petty’s song from the album “Full Moon Fever”, the moon theory was more likely.
Here’s the craziest part: This isn’t the first time the Rockstar community has tried to predict the future based on the phases of the moon, as seen in the tweet. Last year fans did the same thing and guess what… in the end they were right! Two months before the first one GTA6 trailer announced, Rockstar shared an image of the moon showing its arrival phase on December 1st. And a few weeks later, on December 1, Rockstar announced the release date of the first film as December 5 GTA6 trailer. Hmmmm.
Grand Theft Auto 6 will appear in fall 2025 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. If everything is to be believed, we are only a few days away from the novel trailer for the long-awaited open world game.
