Gori Cuddly Carnage’s cozy, bloody demo is now available on all platforms

Gori Cozy MassacreThe demo is available now on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5 ahead of its August 29, 2024 release date. The free demo, which just so happens to be released on International Cat Day, features the first level of the game and really gives you a glimpse of what it’s all about.

In the demo, you’ll meet the cuddly cat Gori, the game’s protagonist, as well as FRANK, his AI personality hoverboard who’s incredibly frustrated by the kid-friendly filter on his dialogue, which means he can’t swear at first. Together, they’re the perfect duo to control as you slice and dice your way through hordes of increasingly grotesque unicorns who’ve been mutated in the most bizarre ways possible. Just be aware that this is best avoided if you’re not good with blood, as there’s so much of it and it’s everywhere.

Don’t stop cutting

Assumption Gori Cozy Massacre is fairly straightforward to get into. The world has been struck by a toy apocalypse, causing all sorts of products designed to be fun to mutate into horrible machinations and bloody creatures hungry for your blood. You try to find the object that the scientist who saved you is leading you to, and you hope it leads you to her.

Each mission is like a sandbox, but it plays more like a mission in the devil can cry game. The hallways loop as you fight your way through bloody combat, solve puzzles, usually involving blood and guts, and move between levels from a central hub where there are unlockables you can earn.

I love fighting in Gori Cozy Massacre because it’s meaty and meaningful. What starts out as a relatively uncomplicated moveset gets increasingly complicated very quickly, to the point where you’re chaining attacks and risking death for a finisher that replenishes your health and energy while tearing the boss or mini-boss apart.

Levels in Gori Cozy Massacre each has a unique theme. I played one that was definitely a deep and saturated sewer, but there’s also an arcade level that lets you into the games scattered around it. I think you’ll find something you’ll love if you download the demo and try it out. It’s available on almost every platform and works really well on Steam Deck, so you should be able to play it no matter what system you prefer.
