Published:

As Sony announced, Ghost of Yotei will be released on New Game Plus on November 24 with a free update. Expect increased difficulty, modern armor sets and weapon dyes, replayable missions, and modern accessibility options.

The PlayStation 5 exclusive Sucker Punch sequel will receive New Game Plus as a free update with modern cosmetics, modern trophies and modern Photo Mode features.

As described in detail wa Post on the PlayStation BlogNew Game Plus will allow you to replay Atsu’s mission from the beginning, using everything you’ve earned throughout the campaign. “Yes, this means it’s time to bring your weapons to swordfighting, and all the armor, skills and weapons from your first playthrough will be available from the start of the game,” said Andrew Goldfarb, senior communications manager at Sucker Punch Productions.

Details of the modern Ghost of Yotei Plus game:

New Game Plus will unlock after completing the main story and will add modern, harder difficulty options and two modern trophies. There is also a modern currency called Spirit Flowers, which can be exchanged at the modern vendor for over 30 modern cosmetics, including modern armor sets and weapon dyes, as well as 10 modern amulets. You’ll also be able to earn an additional level of upgrades for your existing armor and weapon sets.

New base game features coming with the modern patch include the ability to replay post-game content after completing the main story, including a modern stat display. Sucker Punch also adds modern accessibility options, including remapping the directional buttons. New Photo Mode features include shutter speed, composition grid, and modern filters.

Last week, Sony announced that Ghost of Yotei had sold 3.3 million copies in its first month of sales (October 2 to November 2). The predecessor Ghost of Tsushima sold 2.4 million copies in the first three days after going on sale exclusively on PlayStation 4 on July 17, 2020, and then reached 5 million after 118 days (less than four months). Including sales of the director’s cut on PC and PS5, 13 million copies have already been sold.

So it’s worth remembering that while we don’t have figures for a comparable sales period, it appears that Ghost of Yotei is selling as well as Ghost of Tsushima before it, a suggestion supported by sales data in the US and across Europe.

As for developer Sucker Punch’s future plans, in an interview with VGCco-founder and head of the studio, Brian Fleming, said that the studio will decide on the next project after the release of the multiplayer expansion Ghost of Yotei: Legends. But he suggested don’t expect an avalanche of games from a relatively humble developer – it’s one project at a time.
