Netflix Games has officially revealed its first teaser for its upcoming Squid game, well, games. Squid Game: Unleashed will be fully revealed during the opening night of Gamescom in Cologne on August 20. And while you might miss something if you’re not there, we’re sure there’ll be more exhilarating news to share after the show.

We don’t know much about Squid Game: Unleashed at this point, beyond the name and the image we’ve included as a header. However, given that Netflix Games has a pretty decent handle on releasing titles without any in-app purchases or other free options, we can assume the field is pretty wide open. They confirmed this in the first ad that it will be a multiplayer game, so that’s all we know.

I’d venture to say it would be something like Fall Guys, or maybe a series of puzzle minigames. The key art certainly reminds me of something like the much-missed GO series of games (if you remember those). But as mentioned above, we’ll have to wait until Squid Game: Unleashed is revealed at Gamescom’s opening before we find out more.

No time for squid

Of course, aside from the somewhat admirable aspects of Squid Game , which is its highly regarded work of social commentary, the series has somewhat fallen out of the limelight. So I’m definitely a little worried that this might have an impact on the game. But then again, with a modern season of the show just around the corner, maybe this will facilitate give the series the boost it needs?
