So, an animated film The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep gives fans the next best thing: a front-row seat for Geralt Shawl-mode of one of the sea creatures with giant tentacles.
The latest trailer for the Netflix premiere – which will air on February 11 – gives us a full idea of what’s at stake. Sirens of the Deep. Geralt, exhausted and upset by his recent conflict with the sorceress Yennifer, goes on a little side quest with the bard Jaskier to try to prevent an all-out war between the inhabitants of the land and the Merpeople. There is a lot of grunting, obscure jokes and bloody fights.
I’m still not sold on the animation style, and I hope there are more twists throughout the film than meets the eye, but any chance to see Doug Cockle, the voice actor of Geralt from the video game trilogy, reprise his role take on this role is welcome. The actor is also expected to return some form for The Witcher 4but the sequel, probably in a few years, will focus mainly on his protégé, Ciri.
Sirens of the Deep The action takes place in the middle of the first season of the live-action Netflix series The Witcher number. This show wrapped its third season in 2023 and has been MIA ever since. Season four, in which Henry Cavill replaced Liam Hemsworth, apparently filming ended at the end of last year. The series, which is arguably getting worse with each up-to-date set of episodes, will finally end with season five.
Meanwhile, the fantasy author behind the series, Andrzej Sapkowski, has just finished the first novel A book about The Witcher in over a decade which will focus on Geralt’s teenage years.
