Fishing is an critical part Fields of Mysterywhether you simply want to fulfill a request from a townie or you want to complete a museum. Finding the fish you need can be frustrating, so we’ve compiled everything you need to know about successful fishing into one guide for you.
Below you will find a detailed description of how to find fish of specific sizes and a complete table of all the fish in the game.
Sizes of fish shadows in the Fields of Mystery
Each fish has a different size, making it easier to hunt. There are compact, medium, vast, and giant fish, all with different shadow sizes, as shown below.
Sometimes it can be demanding to tell the difference between a compact and medium-sized fish, and a medium and vast fish, but the more you fish, the more you will become more aware of it.
If you’re hunting a specific fish, such as a uncommon giant fish, you leave the map it’s on and then return to it to refresh spawn points until you see the appropriate size shadow.

Although the in-game almanac states there are 111 fish, there are actually only 109. Two entries in the almanac are for catching trash (wood and fiber).
There are also four legendary fish (Cherry Fish, Leaf Fish, Lightning Fish, and Snow Fish) that you can only catch once you reach Fishing Level 30 and activate the “Legendary” skill. You’ll get an in-game notification that these fish are nearby if they appear, so keep your fishing rod handy.
Some players have reported having better luck finding Lightning Fish and Snow Fish, especially during storms and blizzards, but since the in-game descriptions only mention “rainy” and “snowy” days, we’re adjusting accordingly.
A full list of all fish can be found at Fields of Mystery below. The in-game almanac sorts all the fish alphabetically, so we did, too.
