Friday the 13th: game developer IllFonic with layoffs

Published:

Friday the 13th and Predator: Hunting Grounds creator IllFonic has experienced layoffs as the team “re-aligns itself to a refined strategy.”

IllFonic CEO and co-founder Charles Brungardt retweeted the news X/Twitter saying, “Today we had to accept the difficult reality that the state of the industry has impacted us at IllFonic.”

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we have had to make cuts to our team as we re-align to a refined strategy,” he continued. “There is a lot of talent in this group and if you or your team are looking for employees, please contact us so that people can find open positions. Thank you”.

IllFonic was founded in 2007 and has studios in Lakewood, Colorado and Tacoma, Washington. It’s currently unclear how many people were affected by these cuts, but these layoffs come just months after the release of the studio’s latest game, Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game.

In our review of Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game, we said that “it’s as silly and fun as the movie it’s based on, and that makes it a surprisingly addictive, asymmetrical multiplayer game.”

In addition to the previously mentioned games, IllFonic has also developed and supported games such as Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, Arcadegeddon, Dead Alliance, Star Citizen, Armored Warfare and Evolve.
