In the image shared, it looked like there was a strange mold image in the game. Why did mold appear? Fortnite? Turns out you can blame Epic CEO Tim Sweeney and a decision he made decades ago.

“This is a stock photo of cave pearls, a type of calcium carbonate deposit that forms in limestone caves.” Sweeney said.

When someone asked the all-important question, “Can I eat this?” the director replied: “Actually yes” and shared the link to Wikipedia page for Tumsheartburn medicine containing calcium carbonate.

If you look around the internet you can find people asking about mold Fortnite long before this Twitter interaction. People in 2015 he has even already discovered the original source of the image.
