Fortnite Will Remove FOMO From Future Battle Passes

Epic Games has good and bad news for you Fortnite fans: Battle Pass-exclusive skins and some items coming to future Battle Passes may also be sold in the in-game store at some point, the company announced. This will go a long way toward reducing the fear of missing out on something that comes with Battle Pass exclusives, but will also reduce the prestige of earning these time-limited items.

IN write on the official website Fortnite blogEpic says that items in future Battle Passes “may be offered for purchase in the Fortnite store 18 months or more after the Battle Pass expires.” While 18 months is the minimum for Battle Pass exclusivity, and Epic doesn’t guarantee that all Battle Pass exclusives will be sold a la carte afterward, it’s still good news for Fortnite fans who will not have a chance to get their hands on the coveted “exclusive” product in the coming years.

The change to the Battle Pass exclusivity, Epic says, will allow the developer to “continue to invest in new and exciting Battle Pass rewards, while also allowing players to enjoy content in the future, including outfits based on popular licensed characters.” It’s also a way for Epic to earn more revenue from skins outside of the Battle Pass, which costs 950 V-Bucks or $8.49.

Epic’s stance on exclusive Battle Passes doesn’t appear to extend to previous Battle Passes and their exclusive skins — sorry if you missed out on that Darth Vader or Raven skin. When asked for comment, an Epic spokesperson said the company had nothing more to share about its Battle Pass plans beyond what was announced on its blog.

There may be hope for some older exclusive seasons after all. On Tuesday, Epic re-released Fortnite Season X 2019 Skin – Paradigm – Available in the in-game store, the add-on is described as “accidental return to store.”
