Tesla’s polygonal Cybertruck has arrived in Fortnite, and fans… aren’t sure what to think about it.
The vehicle joined Epic Games’ wildly popular battle royale video game, as well as the Rocket League soccer car project, today, July 23. It’s a free reward for those who complete a series of challenges in the Summer Road Trip quest before August 6, and it’s also a cross-game unlock between those experiences. Completing all the challenges awards players the Cybertruck for their garage, as well as the Green Day Jam racetrack, Back Bling, wheels, and a few stickers, including a smashed window cosmetic.
It’s a selection of free rewards that some players are undoubtedly ecstatic about, but others are taking the opportunity to poke fun at the boxy Tesla truck that will undoubtedly appear on players’ screens in-game. Specifically, many are calling on others to join forces and do everything in their power to destroy any Cybertruck that comes into view.
“Too expensive” – one Reddit User Jokes.
“Cybertruck will give Cyberpunk a nostalgic 2020 feel when textures wouldn’t load on my 1080 console,” said another he said.
I propose a novel Fortnite rule: If you see someone in a Cybertruck, you are in a truce with everyone else in the lobby until they are eliminated. This rule will be repeated as many times as necessary until everyone who bought into this nonsense is gone. Then gameplay will continue as normal. https://t.co/jd93Jt11Ex

I think the funniest thing about the Cybertruck in Fortnite is that aside from the psychological flaw of people attacking you because you’re using the Cybertruck, it also has a giant windshield, making it one of the most genuinely paid and lost cosmetic items ever added photo: twitter.com/mXnW6vq58y

If someone runs over me while I’m in my Fortnite Cyber Truck, I’ll send them back to the lobby where they’ll have their nitro on.

This is the most united fn community in months and they hate the Cybertruck, even Epic Games employees hate it https://t.co/lD1nyPKIWN photo:twitter.com/ntoF7TARQP

While players are grouping together to plan how to react to the Tesla content, they aren’t the only ones expressing their distaste for the addition. In addition to the wave of players who aren’t thrilled about the wave of Cybertrucks coming to Fortnite, there are a few Epic Games developers who are just as unenthusiastic.
Epic Games Producer Kyle Wynn also he butted in on the conversation. In addition to reminding players that companies are made up of people with different thoughts and beliefs, Wynn says, “yes, also, strong focus on vision.”
Yes, it’s difficult to focus on your eyes
