- Fortnite will receive Sidekick companions from November 1
- The update will arrive next season and players will be able to unlock the first Helper in the Battle Pass
- Companion Appearances are lasting and cannot be duplicated, meaning players will have to purchase Companions multiple times if they want to apply a different Appearance
Epic Games announced helpers for Fortnitea fresh pet companion feature that will follow players around the game.
The helpers will officially join FortniteBattle Royale mode, Lego Fortnite, Fortnite Save the WorldAND Fortnite Festival November 1, with the premiere of the next season of “The Simpsons”.
Players will be able to unlock the game’s first sidekick, Peels, in the next Battle Pass, with more coming to the store on November 7, including Bones, Spike, and Lil’ Raptor.
Epic Games also announced “something for all cat lovers” coming later.
Players who already own Bonesy Back Bling will also receive Bonesy Sidekick on November 7, so they can keep an eye out for it when it hits their lockers.
It has also been confirmed that these lovely buddies do not provide any gameplay advantage and do not take damage from enemies, but are merely “friendly cosmetic items that stay with you.”
As Epic Games explains in the latest release blog postPlayers can only customize the appearance of most Helpers once in their locker after acquiring them.
“Your selections are permanent, so be sure to review the look before locking it,” the studio said.
This means that players must purchase the Companion multiple times if they want to apply different Appearances.
In the FAQ section, Epic Games explained: “Yes, you can purchase a Companion multiple times and give it a different appearance. However, each Companion customization you have in your locker must be unique. Duplicating appearances is not allowed.”
