Fortnite has just increased the price of the Battle Pass for the first time ever

Published:

Epic Games is making some changes to the Fortnite Battle Pass model, which will raise the price of the standard pass in just a few weeks.

The mega gaming company talked to gamers about its plans an entry appeared on her website today. While the update includes details on various adjustments such as novel additions for Fortnite Crew subscribers, the thing that will likely affect most Battle Royale fans is the slight raise in the cost of the Battle Pass. Fortnite has long offered its standard pass for 950 V-Bucks, but starting December 1, the price will raise by 50, bringing the total starting amount to 1,000 V-Bucks.

The Fortnite Battle Pass V-Bucks price raise will take place in December.

This is a slight price raise, but still undeniably noticeable considering Epic hasn’t changed the cost of the Fortnite Battle Pass in the past. The studio explains that the actual cost of its popular digital currency will remain unchanged (right now you can purchase 1,000 V-Bucks on the Epic Games Store for $8.99), and you’ll still be able to earn portions of V-Bucks for reaching certain levels of the Pass as well Battlefield. While any price raise may concern fans, Epic adds that the price of the 25 Battle Pass reward pack is dropping from $1,850 to $1,800. IGN has reached out to Epic for comment.

These petite but fundamental changes are coming before the long-awaited release of Fortnite OG: Chapter 1 – Season 1 December 6. Part of the change that will allow players to enjoy the classic Battle Royale mode will be sweetening the $12.99 Fortnite Crew deal and adding even more goodies. The bundle currently provides subscribers with the standard Fortnite Battle Pass, 1,000 V-Bucks, monthly Crew Pack outfits, Crew Pack outfit styles, and the premium Rocket Pass for Rocket League. From December 1, the offer will be expanded to include Music Pass and LEGO Pass, without asking subscribers for a penny more.

It’s a tempting offer that will no doubt have players investing their time in the Epic gaming ecosystem, especially considering that earning XP in any of their related games will result in simultaneous progression across all of their Battle Passes. The Crew subscription will also give you access to any additional passes that come out in the future, including the novel, yet to be detailed Fortnite OG Pass.

The issue with the Fortnite Crew update is that novel subscribers who sign up after December 1 will no longer be able to unlock premium Pass rewards once their subscription is no longer energetic. This means that if you sign up for Crew and then cancel shortly thereafter, you will only be eligible to claim rewards for the remainder of your billing period. Players can currently cancel a Crew and still benefit from the remaining Battle Pass while it is energetic. This will not change for players who are currently subscribed and will remain subscribed after the changes go into effect.

Epic is making major changes to its look to the future with its eternal, nostalgia-fueled Fortnite OG mode. The company is currently working on Chapter 5: Season 5, which will conclude when Chapter 6: Season 1 begins next month. Details about its topic and exact content remain under wraps, so while you wait for more information, be sure to check it out DualSense controller for PlayStation 5 with a Fortnite theme which was released earlier this month.
