Fortnite Getting Disney Villains, Incredibles Characters, and a Doctor Doom Season | D23 2024

Published:

Epic Games is partnering with Disney to bring some of its iconic villains to Fortnite, as well as a host of modern characters from Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel.

Fortnite’s latest collaboration was revealed during the Disney Experiences Showcase at D23 2024. The latest crossover will begin next week, with Mandalorian characters like Grogu set to arrive on August 12. Then, the next season of Fortnite will kick off the era of Doctor Doom with Chapter 5, Season 4: Absolute Doom, bringing more Marvel-themed skins and items for players to play with on August 16. You can check out Trailer for Absolute Doom below.

Doctor Doom is the latest major Marvel character to sneak into Fortnite, but Victor Von Doom isn’t the only superheroine to appear in the trailer. X-Men like Cable, Cyclops, Rogue, Jubilee, and Colossus also have cameos, as does Spider-Man villain Mysterio. The footage also shows off some cosmetics and weapons based on characters like Sabretooth, Captain America, Iron Man, and Black Panther, making it clear that Marvel’s connection to Fortnite still has a lot to offer.

Disney took the opportunity at its latest D23 show to prove that it’s fully committed to Fortnite in more ways than one. This fall, Fortnite fans can expect appearances from a selection of iconic Disney villains, like Maleficent, Cruella de Vil, and Captain Hook. Pixar characters are also on the way. Specifically, Disney’s superhero family, the Incredibles, will be making an appearance in the game, and players will be able to enjoy content based on characters like Mr. and Mrs. Incredible and Frosty.

These announcements follow the news that Disney acquired a $1.5 billion stake in Fortnite developer Epic Games in March. At the time, the company said it wanted to strengthen its relationship with the studio and make a larger investment in the gaming space in general. The long list of characters added to Fortnite is certainly just the beginning of what the partnership will bring. While we wait to see how the two companies will grow together, be sure to read about some of the other announcements from today’s Disney Experiences Showcase, which include modern attractions based on Avatar and the Avengers.
