Fortnite Chapter Seven: Pacific Break features boss battles, effortless building, and self-reviving

Published:

Immediately after the grand finale, until Chapter 6, Fortnite entered Chapter Seven: Pacific Break, ushering in a fresh era for Fortnite Battle Royale on the Gold Coast. It’s more than just a few fresh locations and branding tie-ins, though, with a number of core gameplay changes including boss battles, plain construction and standalone animations.

One change is the way you join a match in Fortnite – the Battle Bus is now out of service, and you can instead reach the island by Storm Surfing. From there, fresh POIs will appear on the map, including Battlewood Boulevard, Sandy Strip, Wonkeeland, and Classified Canyon.

But it’s really about fresh improvements and additions to the gameplay.

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Stay in the Game – In very scarce cases, when players are knocked down, they can apply a self-reanimation device to revive themselves while they are downed (knocked down, but not eliminated).
    • Additionally, DBNO’s fresh motion options include Roll & Tumble, DBNO Sprint, and Stay on the Move.
    • The reboot delivery trucks have finally arrived on the island!
  • Defeat the Boss, Be the Boss – Defeat bosses to get their loot, powers and transform into them! Becoming a boss grants full health and shield, additional max health and shield, infinite energy, and a powerful ability. Be careful: boss positions remain apparent to nearby enemies at all times!
  • Simple Build – Simple Build is an option in Settings (Game > Build) that makes learning to build easier. Turn it on, look in the direction you want to build and just… build!

Plus, the fresh Battle Pass has a whole bunch of movie references that 12-year-olds won’t really understand. The bride from Kill Bill appears with a katana in her hand, and Marty McFly brings 80s chic to the year 2025 (ten years from the “future” he visited in the sequel).

This is all a bit short-lived though. Battle Bus returns on December 4, when Reload will return to online mode with the Surf City map, Blitz Royale will have the fresh Starfall Island map, and Ranked mode will also return. Fortnite OG will also return on December 11 with Season 7.
