Fortnite Chapter Seven Art Teases LEGO Ninjago, Say Fans and The Return of the Cube

Published:

Fortnite’s recent Chapter Seven era art seemingly teased a crossover with LEGO Ninjago and confirmed the return of the game’s dreaded cube.

While LEGO is already deeply integrated into Fortnite, the addition of Ninjago characters to the game will prove intriguing – it remains to be seen whether these characters will appear in non-LEGO versions. Indeed, this trailer simply shows a set of golden nunchucks belonging to Ninjago hero Jay, without the character himself being present.

Lego Ninjago characters are, of course, LEGO minifigures – but in Fortnite, playable characters always have a regular (non-LEGO) version of the skin as well. Perhaps a full, human-like version of Jay will debut? Or maybe fans will be able to run around Fortnite’s Battle Royale as oversized LEGO figures (this seems less likely).

The image contains plenty of other hints about the future of Fortnite, clearly showing a recent helmeted character apparently called the Traveler (no, not the one from Destiny). Shockingly, the character’s helmet appears to contain a compact version of the golden cube last seen in Fortnite in 2021, when it was defeated alongside the Cube Queen in the game’s Chapter 2 finale.

The villains of Fortnite’s Cube were a major part of the game’s original plot and served as part of The Last Reality, an alien race that invaded the island until its overseers, the Imagined Order (IO), intervened. Look closely at the computer console surrounding the Traveler and the I.O. logo, as well as the various logos of the heroic Seven, the faction that would go on to finally overthrow I.O. and liberate the island in Chapter 3.

The fact that all three factions (The Last Reality, IO, and The Seven) are now being referenced – and perhaps fully reintroduced – represents a huge turn for Fortnite, which had largely abandoned its stories since the beginning of Chapter 4 and beyond, following the departure of Fortnite’s previous inventive lead, Donald Mustard.

Other things clearly mentioned in the photo include previously confirmed collaborations with Back to the Future and Kill Bill, and what looks like a clock tower from Tilted Towers.

The current era of Fortnite, which is ending with an enjoyable mini-season of The Simpsons, will culminate this Saturday with the highly anticipated live event that will feature all the major collaborations from the last 12 months, all joining forces to defeat the greatest evil of Chapter 6.

So yes, that means Fortnite’s newest villain will go up against Star Wars characters, the giant Homer Simpson from The Simpsons, Godzilla, Kong, James Gunn’s Superman, the Dino Megazord from Might Morphin Power Rangers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, KPop’s Demon Hunters, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo, Hatsune Miku, the Bride from Kill Bill and Marty McFly, if not more.

Fortnite Chapter Seven will begin shortly thereafter, following an expected period of downtime.
