One by one, Epic Games developers are creating modes in which every type of player can participate Fortnitegolden glove, as if he was gathering fans of specific genres, like Thanos does with the Infinity Stones. And now, with the latest addition, there’s a team-based shooter Ballistic FortniteEpic is targeting fans of brutal first-person shooters. Although the game is not yet as polished as it could be – epic made it available in early access on December 11 — shows the creators’ ambition to introduce a fresh type of player to the game.

Ballistic Fortnite plays like other team shooting games like Evaluation Or Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. There are two teams: defenders and attackers. Defenders can win by disarming the opposing team’s set of explosives or eliminating the entire opposing team. The attackers win by setting the explosive and stopping the opposing team long enough to detonate it. The number of players on each team may vary, but the maximum number of players is five.

Fortnite Battle Royale has a whimsical, cartoonish feel. Sure, it’s a shooting game, but it’s also a game where you can drive and ride to Chappell Roan or go fishing. It’s not grave. Ballisticon the other hand, it is much more disinfected. Its maps have a gray, industrial look and it has an arsenal where you buy standard items like Striker AR or Flashbangs between rounds. There are no goofy weapons like cute Sprite animals or Chug Jugs.

There are definitely problems Ballistic. The game kicked me back into the lobby three times when I tried to queue for the first time. I also experienced connection issues with other teammates who had trouble moving around, even though I was running the game on a desktop computer with a wired connection and fiber-optic internet. People dropped in and out mid-match, and currently the game doesn’t penalize people for dipping in as soon as they think they’re done with the team. Additionally, at various times the UI overlapped, causing me to be unable to see the match result after I was eliminated.

But the game has good bones. I soon learned the pace, the general paths to follow on each map, and even the corners to duck to get a good angle. Shooting also felt precise and consistent. And while my personal preferences still lean towards third-person shooters with a spine-chilling atmosphere, I couldn’t deny the satisfaction of getting a quick and pristine headshot Ballistic.

Do I think Ballistic will replace Evaluation Or Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in the near future? NO. It took years for these games to build a dedicated audience and competitive scene around them. I’m curious about the future of this game, though, as my impressions made me feel like the Epic Games team has the makings of a solid first-person shooter here.
